---The Music---

The music of She Flies is a celebration of life.

The driving rhythms, haunting melodies, and soaring vocals of She Flies weave a spell, transporting you to a world that is at once breathtakingly ethereal and intensely real. With a compelling juxtaposition of raw, gutsy rock vocals and achingly beautiful countermelodies, She Flies challenges you to dream bigger, live more passionately, feel more deeply - to see the world with the wonder of a child.

---The Band---

"This is the music I've dreamed about making since I was a little girl. It's intense and powerful and vulnerable and a little edgy. It's rock totally reinterpreted. I feel like we're always on the edge - constantly pushing our barriers - musically and personally. It's liberating. It's intense too." -Alexandra

In less than a year performing together, She Flies has performed at festivals, bars and clubs in California, Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, Utah and Idaho. The limited Pre-Release Version of their debut CD "Possessed" sold out in a matter of months, and fans are already lining up to buy the final version (due for release in January 2007).

Currently, the L.A.-based band is preparing for a six-week tour in Hawaii, where they will record their second CD, featuring the masterful sonic alchemy of Scott Huckabay, the legendary percussion of Souhail Kaspar, and the musical genius of French Artist-Producer Pierre Grill. (CD due for release in Spring/Summer 2007).

---The Story---

"People come to me and tell me that our music changes them. They cry, they heal, they dance in public for the first time. They dream. Making the music changes me in the same way. All the clutter is stripped away, and I'm free to play, to dance, to let my soul spill out." -Ellen

She Flies began as a random encounter between strangers - a meeting that would fundamentally alter both their lives.

In February of 2005, while attending a festival in Arizona, Alexandra and Ellen met over doumbeks and Turkish coffee. Lea Benson, a mutual friend, lured the future band-mates to a party/jam session thrown by middle eastern musicians, and proceeded to nudge, prod and poke Ellen until she agreed to sing.

Ellen, who at the time, was a bored office worker in Salt Lake City, Utah, had been sitting on a rich, stunning, classically-trained voice, and a passion for music that ran through her veins. After having given up on a music career shortly after college, Ellen had only very recently started to sing again, finding a new freedom in the exotic tones and rich improvisations of middle eastern music.

Alexandra, on the other hand, was a young, frustrated musician living in Los Angeles. A versatile, classically-trained vocalist with extensive recording credits, Alexandra was chasing an elusive music - something just outside of rock, both more elegant and somehow more primal.

That evening, swaying to the sounds of drums and oud, She Flies was born. As Ellen began to sing, improvising in an ancient arabic scale, Alexandra felt something awaken in her - a music that was as old as the earth, infused with new life, and pregnant with possibilities. "I came up behind her and said 'Keep doing what you're doing. I want to try something and I think it's going to be really cool.' Actually, I think I startled her for a second, but she picked right back up. I started singing with her - it was this beautiful Spanish folk song. At first I was layering the song over her melody, but before long I just let go and started improvising on the melody - letting the music take me where it wanted to go. It was amazing. I'd never experienced anything like it before. I'd always been terrified of improv! I never could have guessed that it could be so simple - so - organic. Anyway, it was magic, and I knew immediately that I'd found what I was looking for."

Over the course of the following year, Ellen and Alexandra met regularly, flying between Utah, California, and even Colorado, to sing together and work on new music. Even at the beginning, they both knew that Ellen needed to prepare for the big move to L.A. "I knew what I had to do," says Ellen. "The first time I sang with Alexandra my life suddenly came into focus, and I could really see the whole tapestry. That vision sustained me while I got ready to leave behind my stable, comfortable life and move across the country."

When the big change came, it came fast. In January of 2006, Alexandra was presented with an opportunity to perform at the festival in Arizona where she and Ellen had first met a year earlier. They called the band The Dervishes, in honour of the famous "whirling dervishes," a mystical Sufi sect dedicated to music and dance as a form of spiritual communion. Then the real work started.

Not content simply to perform, Alexandra was determined that The Dervishes needed CDs to sell at their upcoming - www.shefliesmusic.com

In February of 2005, while attending a festival in Arizona, Alexandra Boone and Ellen Weaver met over doumbeks and Turkish coffee. Singing together at the urging of a mutual friend, Ellen and Alexandra knew immediately that their lives were about to change. A year later Ellen left Salt Lake City, Utah and her stable, comfortable life to join Alexandra in Los Angeles and pursue a dream.

In the months that followed, the band took off running. Alexandra and Ellen were touring the inter-mountain west by June, picking up enthusiastic new fans in every city they played. Their music left an impression, and before long She Flies was getting offers to play at festivals and clubs all over the country, collaborate with world-class musicians, and tour in the Carribean, Europe and the Far East.

---About the Artists---

Alexandra Boone was raised in Honolulu, Hawai'i. As the daughter of a singer and a record producer, she was immersed in the music industry even as a child. First recording at age five, Alexandra had successfully written and produced a musical by the time she was ten years old, and at sixteen, represented Hawai'i in the Polynesian Music Festival in the Cooke Islands. With hundreds of performances, and dozens of professional recordings under her belt by the time she graduated from high school, Alexandra moved to Los Angeles in 1998 to study music at the University of Southern California. Alexandra has appeared on over 50 professional recordings, including the best-selling new age CDs "Voyage," "Isle of Dreams," and "A Winter's Journey"(Sugo Records).

Ellen Weaver grew up in a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio in a family of classical musicians. Although she studied piano and flute as a child, Ellen's real strength was her voice. With training in classical, choral, and musical theatre singing, Ellen performed in dozens of concerts and stage productions. After graduating magna cum laude from Ohio State University, Ellen moved across the country to Idaho, and then Salt Lake City, where she lived until meeting Alexandra and moving to Los Angeles.
