Bio

Sheila is a new rock-musical comedy about a high school senior, Sheila. "The most beautiful, most desired, and most acquired girl in school". The story revolves around all of those who are affected by her. Everyone from the guys that dream of getting with her, to the girls that want to be like her, to her hyper-aggressive (yet latently feminine) jock boyfriend.

When I was a freshman in college living in New York, I was in a band called All in Favor. We did mostly originals, but we also covered a song my dad's band, Mystic East, wrote in 1994 called "Sheila Sometimes" which was about a promiscuous girl you can't help but love, but who is never around too long. Everyone who heard the song on our album, when we would perform, or on our MySpace would ask "Who is Sheila?". Since my dad's band wrote the song thirteen years prior, I personally had no idea. Finally my he told me she isn't one girl in particular, just a bitter combination of all of the women in their lives. That was an idea that really interested me. Since Sheila wasn't an actual person with a backstory, I decided to write what that story might be using the songs I wrote for my band, All in Favor. It's original title was Sheila Sometimes: The All in Favor Musical. However, around that time was when I was getting really into Broadway which lead to me combining my love for Broadway-style storytelling and a thematic musical score, with my love for bands such as Van Halen and AC/DC. I also wanted to use this opportunity to present high school the way it is, not the way it appears on The Disney Channel. Complete with all of the language and sex of high school.

After four years of read-throughs, workshops, and re-writes, it caught the attention of director Geoffrey Cox, who took on the challenge of leading its transition from the page to the stage, which will culminate in Sheila's premier Summer 2012. All of this attention also lead to a full soundtrack recording which will be released February 2012 featuring Rachael Fogle, Kelsey Martinez, and Ben Henson as Sheila, Brian, and Stephen, respectively.
