Bio

Shelby Bottom String Band came together after Nell Levin wrote a song about mountain top removal, Don't Blow Up The Mountain. The video of the song became a hit on You Tube. The seasoned musicians in SBSB decided to perform Nell's song and added to the repertoire many of the old songs from the Depression era seemed suddenly relevant in the current era. They expanded their repertoire by digging deep into the Americana catalog and coming up with some quirky gems plus adding in originals composed by band members. SBSB's mission is simple: entertain folks with a upbeat stage show while carrying the message that we're all in this together. SBSB played Nashville's historic Ryman Auditorium on Oct. 17, 2010, as a top 11 finalist (out of 150 entrants) in the Silver Stars competition. The band is currently recording an EP, to be released in early 2011. They recently released their music video of their original song, East Nashville Rag, on You Tube.
