A mix of traditional, southern rock and Bluegrass styles all mixed into one.

Biography

SHELBY HORNER began his life in Champaign, IL on May 11, 1972. Raised a farm boy on 161 acres outside the nearby town of Ludlow, to say country is in his blood would be a immense understatement.

In June of 1986, Shelby and his family moved to Loveland, CO, where music exploded into his life and awakened his talents. He realized singing is what he wanted in life, so he joined the local church choir at the age of 14. Soon he was performing in Barbershop Quartet's, schools and anywhere else he could find an audience. He was exposed to many genres of music during that time, his favorites being country and rock n roll. His early influences, like many others, were George Strait, Randy Travis, and Garth Brooks. Add a little Styx, a pinch of Gospel, and a dab of The Bob's (an a capella group), and you have yourself one well-rounded singer yet his heart remains country, like his roots.

In the fall of 1996, Shelby moved to Nashville to be closer to the heart of Country Music. Since then, he has performed all over Tennessee, Colorado, Ohio and Nebraska, and written several of his own songs, some appearing on his debut album The Rest Of The Dream. His first single release, "Baby I Bet," is currently receiving widespread airplay on small and medium markets nationwide. Shelby has been a member of BMI since 2006 and continues to evolve as a songwriter, musician, engineer and producer. He has collaborated with and performed songs from some of the best writers in the industry. Since moving out here I have met wonderful people, learned a lot, and still have more to learn.

2008 was a wonderful year for Shelby, with "Baby I Bet" climbing to the #80 spot on the New Music Weekly Charts and the #25 spot in that same publications Up and Coming Artist chart within 3 weeks of its release. A guest appearance on Billy Blocks syndicated Locals Only radio program and on-air interview on 103.3 WKDF FM led to a local release of the second single Hey Angel off of The Rest Of The Dream and an invitation to return to the show. CMA Music Festival was also hugely successful, with Shelby receiving sponsorships from NIXA Country Radio, Silver Eagle Bus Manufacturers, and SHM Studios. Shelby also spent time holding autograph sessions at several sponsor booths and packing venues at each of his live performances.

2009 looks to be an even bigger year, with Shelby focusing on new material, his second CD release, more appearances at CMA Music Festival, and performing abroad. He is also planning a special EP release party and showcase on June 5 at 12th & Porter in downtown Nashville to give his fans a peek at some of the new music featured on the upcoming album. Thank you to God for giving me this gift, my family, friends and fans for making all of this possible.

Lyrics

Hey Angel

Written By: Shelby Horner and Cy Queen

Hey Angel, Please stay
Tell me everything you want to say
Hey Angel, don't you think it's time
To lay it all on the line

Angel, you are the one for me
Angel, how can i make you see
I've been waiting all my life and now your here
Your my....Angel

Hey Angel, won't you stay with me
And let me be the man in your dreams
Hey Angel, you give me wings to fly
Let me lift you up with this love inside

Angel, you are the one for me
Angel, how can i make you see
I've been waiting all my life and now your here
Your my....Angel

Why don't you stay just a little bit longer
Maybe we can make this a little bit stronger
Hey Angel, just show me your love again

Angel, you are the one for me
Angel, How can I make you see
I've been waiting all my life and now your here
Your my ....Angel
Your my.....Angel
Your my.....Angel

ANYTHING

Written By: Matt Sumner & Tom Templeman

Wouldn’t change my mind for anyone
But for you I’ll compromise
I’d never take a chance
On losing you tonight
If the sun came up on the wrong side
I’d run it down and make it right
Nothing I see is gonna stop me
From gazing in your eyes

(Chorus)
I’d cross the icy mountains of Montana
Tread the haunted hollows of Tennessee
Swim across the muddy Father of Waters
Baby for you, I’d do anything

If I had to walk a hundred miles
In the blazing desert sun
I’d be on my knees before I quit
Baby I’m not giving up
If I found myself in a hurricane
I’d just wade on through
There’s no need to worry about me
When all roads lead to you

(Chorus)

I know what you want when I get there
I hear it in your voice when you call my name

(Chorus)

GOOD BOY GONE BAD

Written By: Steven McClintock & Tom Templeman

When I was a kid, I was an altar boy
Singing in the choir, Mama’s pride and joy
I turned seventeen sneaking into bars
Watching all those bad boys playing guitar

(Chorus)
I hope if God is keepin’ score
He remembers my early days
I pray an altar boy’s good deeds
Compensate for my wicked ways
I’m not who I used to be
And I know it might seem sad
Mama went down to her grave
Knowin’ her good boy’s gone bad

Playing, drinking, gambling every night
Womanizing, til the morning light
If I needed money, that’s OK
There’s so many con games I could play

(Chorus)

I tried the straight and narrow many times
Shied away from whiskey, women and wine
It might cost me everything I had
But I’m having too much fun bein bad

(Chorus)

MERCY ROAD

Written By: Tom Templeman / Marc-Alan Barnette

I REMEMBER, NOT SO LONG AGO
YOU WERE THE QUEEN OF MY HEART
WE WERE JOINED AT THE SOUL
THEN I RAN WILD, LEFT YOU BEHIND
WHEN I THINK ABOUT HOW MUCH I HURT YOU
I MUST HAVE BEEN OUTTA MY MIND

(chorus)
CAUSE I VE CARRIED THIS BURDEN FOR SO LONG
BOUT TO BREAK FROM THE WEIGHT OF THE LOAD
NOW I M TRYIN TO FIND MY WAY BACK TO YOU
AT END OF MERCY ROAD, OUT ON MERCY ROAD

I MORTAGED OUR FUTURE, SOLD OFF WHAT WE BUILT
I BROKE IT DOWN BRICK BY BRICK
AND TURNED IT TO SILT
THEN I HIT BOTTOM, COULDN T STOP THE FALL
AND THE DAY THAT YOU WALKED OUT THAT DOOR
WAS THE BIGGEST DAMAGE OF ALL

(chorus)

(bridge)
MY PREACHER SAYS WE NEED REDEMPTION
WE ALL TAKE A FALL
THE HARDEST PART OF FORGIVENESS
IS TO FORGIVE YOURSELF FIRST OF ALL

AND NOW I M FREE OF THE PRISON I MADE FOR MYSELF
I VE DEDICATED MY LIFE TO BE THE MAN YOU NEED
AND NO ONE ELSE
IF YOU CAN FIND THE COMPASSION TO ALLOW ME TO STAY
I SWEAR I WILL LIVE EVERY MOMENT FROM NOW ON
TO STAY THIS WAY

(chorus)
