Bio

Shelley Dael Walker is an artist whose music defies genre, and yet resonates as familiar and inviting. This multi-talented singer/songwriter performs to captivated listeners, who often describe her voice as "angelic." It is partly her ability to connect on a personal level with her audience, along with her well-crafted melodic and lyrical content that have established Shelley as a unique artist with a loyal following.

Shelley began playing music at an early age, and began writing songs as early as she can remember. Her first band, Grass Roots, released two records while Shelley was still in high school. The band reformed as Ireson’s Ride, releasing one full-length recording which garnered both local and national critical acclaim. At this time, Shelley’s music was prominently featured in seminal alternative disc jock Marco Collins’s weekly local Seattle Area program, The Young and the Restless on 107.7 KNDD, the same station who broke bands such as Nirvana and Beck. After several years of extensive national touring with Ireson’s Ride, Shelley sought to establish herself as a solo artist.

Recent accolades of her solo efforts include being featured as the Compo 10 winner on MP3.Com, as voted on by listeners. Her first solo EP, precluding her forthcoming full length, quickly received airplay on 103.7 The Mountain. Shelley’s debut solo album, Stitches and Skin, is a collection of skillfully written and delivered songs that are lush, innovative and memorable. Stitches and Skin is scheduled for release in July 2003, and is sure to be well received by both old and new fans of Shelley’s music.

Shelley is a native of Seattle, Washington. Her travels within the United States and abroad have contributed her appreciation of culture and diversity. Although Shelley’s earliest musical influences centered around the classical music she was exposed to as a child, gifted pop icons such as Tom Petty also rank among her favorite artists. Those who listen to Shelley’s music have compared it to Sarah McLaughlin, Tori Amos, The Sundays and the Innocence Mission. Shelley plays frequently in the Pacific Northwest, and continues to amaze listeners with her intimate performances.
