Biography

Trust, love, betrayal are key elements running through Shelton Davis' debut album "Bittersweet and Low." Emotionally honest, the music takes you on a ride through the landscapes of the soul. Shelton Davis is, Tim Shelton (guitar and bass) and Lance Davis (voice, guitar, juno-6 and drums).

Friends for almost 20 years, the two came together to record the album in an old art studio in Frenchtown, NJ in the spring of 2002. They began the project with 26 songs between them, but abandoned them when life intervened and wrote all new material. "That's the beauty of having your own studio,” says Davis, "being able to record the songs as they are being written. You just capture so much more emotional integrity that way. It was a tough year for me, much of the material is based on trust and the lack thereof in times of uncertainty, trust in making right decisions, trust in other people and mainly trusting yourself...your gut."

Recently, guitarist Chris Horne, bassist Ric Tutlo and drummer Greg Shelton joined the machine to broaden the scope by creating soundscapes and adding textures to the whole. Live, the sound is EuroRock underground rootsie folkie stripped down, with a hint of atmospheric psychedelia. In their possession is a surreal ability to conquer many different musical wavelengths and still be able to transform all of them into their own sound. They're everything that you hoped music could be, like a butterfly dropping an atomic bomb.

They are currently writing and recording material for their next record.
Stay tuned for performance updates for 2006.

Lyrics

INTO THIS

Written By: Lance Davis

-Right when the whore licks your skin -That's when the poison sets in
-And then the ego takes flight into the night
-That's when she sets up for the kill, and she will.

-Lay down next to me tonight to see if I give in to your sin
-Cause winter's far too cold to be alone
-Should I let you in?
-Be graceful Boy and get out while you can
-Before you leave, kiss her like you'll never kiss again...and again, and again.

-Faces are so cold, voices are so bold
-Souls are being told, so cold
-We are getting old and noone left to hold
-Warmth is coming, so hold on.

IN THE DAY

Written By: Lance Davis

-Girl in my head, in distress
-You worry, you're a mess
-You know the night has a way of freakin' you out.

-But you'll feel alright in the morning
-You'll feel alright in the day
-When the Sun wakes you up.

-Sleep, let me rub your head
-And maybe we will run away
-Of course they'll think we're crazy
-But we don't care

-We'll feel alright in the morning
-We'll feel alright in the day
-You'll feel alright in the morning
-With the Sun in your eyes
-With the wind in your hair
-With my voice in your ear.

DARKHORSE

Written By: SHELTON DAVIS

-Transistion is here
-Momentum like a freight train
-And when you appear, I cry.

-And when the morning comes, I dry my eyes
-And when the Sun goes down, I'm hiding
-Only when lightning comes, I feel the strike of bittersweet and low.
-Right now I'm feeling low...I'm sorry.

-And so I light a candle
-So I can feel cozy
-Maybe then I could handle this ride.

-And when the monsters come, I hide my eyes.
-And when nightfall comes, I'm frightened
-Only in thunderstorms I realize, I'm bittersweet and low.
-Right now I'm feeling low, please forgive me.
