SHERL BURKE
Contemporary Gospel Artist/Songwriter/Actress

Inspiring, uplifting, joyful, captivating and universal are the angelic sounds of Sherl Burke. In 2010, Sherl released her debut Gospel CD entitled “Faithful God”. Sherl has been nominated in three categories for the “2011 South Florida Gospel Music Awards”: Female Contemporary, Best Gospel New Artist and Album of the Year. The smooth melodic, yet powerful tones of her anointed voice, gives her the unique sound capable of touching the hearts of listeners around the world.
Sherl Burke is a singer/songwriter who was born in New York and moved to Miami, FL in her early childhood. The youngest of ten siblings, Sherl started singing at the tender age of two in New York at her local church. By the age of five she began lead singing in the family gospel group. The passion for music that God has given her continues to drive her heart today. Throughout her life she has enjoyed sharing her ministry with others. She has shared the stages with several other great gospel artists such as Shakinah Glory, Dorothy Norwood, John P. Kee, Papa San, Jimmy Hicks and Voices of Integrity, Shirley Ceasar and Vicki Winans, Kurt Karr and Ricky Dillard. She was also used as support talent for Kanye West at the Video Music Awards 2004. Sherl’s powerful, heavenly vocals have also been heard as one of the lead vocalist singing “Hallelujah Anyhow’ on the Stella Award Winning Miami Mass’ 2004 release “God Will See You Through”. This dynamic psalmist also combined her singing and acting skills to wow the audience in Gospel Stage Plays like “God’s Trombone” and “Life Behind the Mask”.
Today, Sherl Burke is an Independent Gospel Artist, with a degree in Music Business, who is on a mission to do Kingdom work. Her music is now heating up on major radio stations. She also now continues her journey with Miami Mass Choir, who now serves as the Adrienne Arsht Center of Performing Arts’ resident choir of “Free Gospel Sunday 2010/2011/2012”. Sherl was part of a month long European tour in the latter part of 2010. “My mission is to not only spread the gospel in the US but around the world”. “I chose the title of my debut cd project “Faithful God” because that is truly who God has proven himself to be time after time throughout my life. It’s not because I’ve always deserved it, it’s only because of his grace and mercy that has brought me to where I am today. Serving God and singing for the Lord is not a hobby, it’s who I am. It’s like drinking water and breathing in air….I need him in order to live.” Sherl Burke’s new release “Faithful God” is the “MUST HAVE” cd of the year.
