"CD Review "Old Neighborhood""

RadioIndy is pleased to present Sherman Hunter with a GrIndie Award for their CD "Old Neighborhood"

"Old Neighborhood" is a soulful classic blues album from Sherman Hunter, a veteran of the music industry. If you are looking for a collection of songs by a bona fide bluesman, this is certainly it. Hunter brings you a full sound behind his smooth, seemingly effortless playing style and deep weathered vocals. The band is comprised of great performers, masters of their craft that really succeed in pulling together the timeless quality of the sound. The sound quality of "Old Neighborhood" is excellent: All of the songs are ready to hit your speakers crisply and cleanly. Highlights include the title track, "Old Neighborhood," which establishes the big picture right off the bat with great guitar work, horns, female backing vocals, and a quality that puts you right in the room with the band. "Stormy" is a great little jazz number that features a delicate touch and nice progressions. "I Drink Muddy Waters" is a gritty track with an energetic, wailing vocal performance and quirky guitar solos. With "Old Neighborhood," Sherman Hunter has put together an incredible blues album full of great vocal performances and professional musicianship. If you enjoy great blues guitar and a classic blues sound, pick up this album.
