Bio

Between McComb City, Mississippi, home of Bo DIddly and Ferriday, Louisianna, home of Jerry Lee Lewis, on a gravel road 5 miles from BusyCorner, Sherman Lee Dillon learned to play his guitar. When he was 16 a carload of musicians drove up and invited him to go to Baton Rouge and play on a record they were making.  From that day til this, music has been his life.

He sings, plays guitar and harmonica, cheats and is a compulsive liar. Even with these shortcomings, you can invite him into your kitchen (or auditorium) and get a show "Guaranteed to Satisfy!"

Opening for Johnny Winter, Koko Taylor, Milton, B.B. King..., performing with Rufus Thomas, Eden Brent, William Bell, Sam Myers, Grady Champion, King Floyd, Billy Gibson, Fingers Taylor..., has enabled him to extend his self inflicted cognitive dissonance to thousands.

Just sayin'. . .

- "The State of the Blues", (Previous CD) has been awarded "Traditional Blues CD of Year" by the Rural Roots Music Foundation.

-2010 International Blues Challenge Finalist, representing the Central MS Blues Society.

-"309 Blues"(newest CD) - 309 Farish Street, Jackson, MS, was the address of Trumpet Records. Trumpet Records recorded Elmore James', "Dust my broom" and Sonny Boy's, "Eyesight to the Blind".

-SLD was used as a voice model for the movie, "Oh, Brother, Where Art Thou". ("Do not seek the treasure!").

-"The Gov" In 2004 SLD ran for Governor of Mississippi as the Green Party's candidate.

-"The Dillonaires" is a group consisting of Andrew John (fiddle), Anna Lee (guitar), and SLD (banjo), performing 3 part harmonies and music characteristic of Southern USA.

-"The Last of the Mississippi Jukes" is a movie about SLD's friend, Jimmy King and his late night club,"The Subway". From 1994-1998 SLD played in their house band.

-In keeping with his commitment to the environment, in 1991 SLD and his 7 children began sponsoring MS's longest running Earth Day celebration.
