Sherri Rich

The 12th in a family that would soon boast 15 children, singer/songwriter Sherri Rich was born into a world of music and creativity. Her dad was a quartet singer and minister. Her mom, though not musically gifted, was a creative woman, always sewing, cooking and decorating. She believed that a proper environment included beautiful things to look at, beautiful aromas, as well as beautiful things to listen to. So, she made sure the children had a piano, guitars, horns and a stereo system.
"We had all genres of music playing in our home--both live and recorded," Rich says. "My brothers ruled the basement where the stereo was kept and played all kinds of cool music--loudly! I would sneak down, blend into the furniture and let the music of Deep Purple, Alice Cooper, Parliament Funkadelic, Earth, Wind & Fire, Electric Light Orchestra, Harry Chapin, Phoebe Snow, Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Chicago, Angela Bofill, Queen and others seep into my skin."
