TV Highlights: Premium Blend, Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn, The Chris Rock Show

Why He's On The Site: Best MC working the Comedy Cellar today...Sherrod doesn't have to rely on the typical black/white material...Awesome crowd work skills, very quick witted

Official Bio: Born and raised by his mother and two sisters in the Bedford-Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn, New York, Sherrod Small is one of the top stand-up comics coming out of New York City today, appearing at clubs and colleges across the nation. With his witty commentary on politics, culture and city life, Small consistently receives rave reviews for keeping audiences entertained with his remarkable comedic talent and improvisation. His comedy has been quoted in The New York Times and on Fox News.

In October 2002 Sherrod was featured on Comedy Central’s “Premium Blend” and NBC’s “Showtime at the Apollo”. Sherrod also currently appears in Jerry Seinfeld’s film “Comedian”. Sherrod recently finished writing for the Comedy Central pilot “Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn” which aired this past December. In the past he has performed on the Emmy Award winning “Chris Rock Show” on HBO and starred in several prominent television commercials, including the well-known Southwest Airlines commercial “Concert”. He has also made several appearances in segments on “Late Night with Conan O'Brien”. Sherrod has been featured on various television programs such as “Hard Copy”, “Comedians Under Cover” and “Marta and Her Men” on the Oxygen Network, as well as on the radio shows “Radio Chick” and “The Scott & Sid Morning Show” on WNEW in New York. Last year he participated in the Comedy Café European Lucky Strike Tour and The Comedy Factory Tour in Amsterdam, culminating with a featured stand-up spot on The Comedy Factory television show.

Last year Sherrod toured the U.S. entertaining thousands of college students with both the New York Comedy Film Festival Tour and the Burly Bear Network Comedy World College Tour. He recently performed at the prestigious HBO U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, and this past summer he starred in VH-1’s pilot, “Unhappy Hour”, with Dr. Joyce Brothers
- Cringe Humor

Still you couldn’t ask for a better lineup. Regular commentators Christian Finnegan, Jessi Klein and Sherrod Small each did a brief stand-up routine before joining Paul Scheer on stage for group pop-culture bashing. These guys are some of the best in the biz. Christian Finnegan is like the funniest guy in your high school class. Times ten. His comedy blends self-deprecation with incisive social observation to snort-out-loud effect. Jessi Klein is quirky, off-beat and cerebral -- and able to wield the F-word with remarkable efficacy. The standout of the night was Sherrod Small. Generally, I think of black vs. white humor as pretty dated stuff, with more than a whiff of stale Eddie Murphy material. But Sherrod manages to put a fresh spin on it, setting up “Us vs. Them” while participating both as Us and Them, laughing as much at himself as at whitey in the Hawaiian shirt seated up front.
