Feeling a bit camera shy

Like so many capable others before her, Sherry Sherrill earnestly believes she is called to the assignment of Music Ministry. And that GOD has moved in a mighty way in empowering her to bring comfort to the people.

Hearkening unto the audible voice of The Holy Spirit in 2006, after a fervent prayer, Sherry herself was finally delivered out of a longterm relationship that had been repeatedly compromised by betrayal and irreversibly damaged by cycles of Domestic Violence. Through the power and peace of GOD's Holy Spirit, Sherry was then able to endure what appeared to be a concerted distortion campaign and emerged from the entire ordeal blessed, resurrected and restored. She is emphatic in her belief that Christ Jesus' move of Grace saved her life and reputation, and also salvaged her child's opportunity to grow and develop within a home environment wherein truth, respect, dignity, and reverence for The LORD, are promoted and exemplified. It is Lord Jesus, and NOT religiosity, that is THE primary thing in Sherry Sherrill's life. She has entered this stage of it filled to the rim with The Holy Ghost.

Sherry Sherrill is gifted with the determination, talent, professionalism, beauty, brains and unique artistry to demonstrate to all whom would hear and see that Jesus Is Lord...and that through HIM all things are indeed possible when backed by progressive faith.

Already reknown for her community-mindedness, refreshing humility and genuine down-to-earth personality, Sherry attended the same Upstate New York (USA) performing arts high school that yielded both Ani DiFranco and Lucky Peterson. However, it is the former factoid that pays homage to Sherry's southern roots.

Born in the State of Tennessee (USA), Sherry Sherrill's family tree is of Native American (Cherokee), West Indian, and Irish ancestry. This includes a noteworthy man named Nathan Sherrill who, after becoming freed from chattel slavery in the State of Arkansas (USA) at the age of 18, married a young Cherokee woman whose own family and she had survived this nation's infamous Trail of Tears episode. The young pioneering couple relocated onto a decommissioned slave plantation in the City of Brighton, Tennessee, wherein Nathan became a masterful sharecropper who eventually was able to purchase a large land tract. Nathan eventually sold the majority of his landholding to other freed men, whom established homesteads of their own alongside the Sherrills. It was in his honor, during the 1920s, that the City of Brighton (TN) constructed and named a road running through this location Sherrill Avenue. A name it bears to this day. Moreover, both Sherry's maternal grandmothers were pillars in their respective communities. Her own mother is a gifted poet, talented writer, fiery community activist, dedicated (former) special education teacher, and (current) county legislator in Upstate New York. Sherry's stepfather is a retired automobile industry worker and entrepreneur. Sherry also has 2 halfsisters, and 2 stepbrothers whom reside with her biological father within the State of Michigan (USA).

Herself the divorced mother of a special needs child diagnosed with Autism at age 3, Sherry Sherrill is also a poet whose stirring composition titled One Million, Plus Me memorialized the USA's 1995 Million Man March and was published within an anthology of 21st century American poetry. A devoted mom, Sherry composed a musical tribute to her daughter's struggle with pervasive developmental delay, and Song 4 M. is a stirring introspection of immoveable faith and unconditional love. Song 4 M. appears on the TOL [Tree Of Life] cd and can be downloaded here or at:!

Working alongside others as commited to addressing the myriad issues confronting the City of Buffalo (NY)'s inner neighborhoods as she, Sherry Sherrill has served in numerous community organizations in her adopted hometown wherein she has advocated for Internet Literacy, taught Basic Computer Skills to public housing youth, created a website geared to ameliorating disparate black issues such as the digital divide.

Highlights of Sherry Sherrill's professional music career thus far include a debut at NYC's Atlantis club, an appearance on European television, and an Indy gig recording club music for Harmony Music Studio's West Berlin club project.

Creatively, Sherry has been influenced by many of the great personalities of the 20th century and before. She cites Colin Powell (US General, retired), Mary Jane McLeod Bethune, James Taylor, Tina Turner, John Lennon, Barry Gibb, Frank Lloyd Wright, William Shakespeare, Madonna, Stevie Wonder, Carole King, Frank Sinatra, James Brown, Liza Minelli, Chita Rivera, Henry David Thoreau, Bruce Springseen, Sam Cooke, Medgar Evers, Elvis Presley, Bob Geldof and Karen Carpenter among the gifted artisans, philosophers, activists, musicians, songwriters, vocalists, dancers, entertainers and/or activists whom have inspired h
