Biography

A fusion of sound created from around the world. Unique, uplifting, serene, tranquil are but a few words that have been used to describe his music.
Shibaten has travelled to over 30 countries to date immersing himself in the culture and music of each.
Even after a near death experience in Africa, where he lived with a local tribe to learn the craft of drum making, Shibaten has not slowed down.
Instead the experience made his passion for life and music even greater!

Shibaten has successfully blended the sounds of: Didgeridoo(Australia), Djembe(Guinea), Sese(Mali), Foot Nuts Bell(Indonesia), Tibetan Bell(Tibet), Thai Gong(Thailand), Wind Chime(Indonesia), Chinese Cymbal(China), Clap Sticks(Burkina Faso), African Bell(Guinea), Chau Gong(China), Stomp box(Australia), ORB (Canada) Vocal and Voice Performance, Bamboo Winds(Indonesia), Kalimba(South Africa), Acoustic Guitar and Bass Guitar.

To date Shibaten has received great success with the release of his first 2 CD?fS
"Live at Free Times" and "This Earth".
His music is to be featured in an upcoming Film ?gStrafe ?g to be released at a future International Film Festival.
Currently touring the Ontario Festival?fs Shibaten is always eager for new experience and the opportunity to share his passion of music with his audience.

Since his arrival back in Canada in April, Shibaten has been receiving a lot of attention, he has been featured on the front cover of the Toronto Sun, was invited to open up for Rik Emett?fs ?gTriumph?h for a very large Cancer Fundraiser in August ?gClearfest?e.
He has also been interviewed by Rogers and will be featured on an upcoming episode of ?gShowtime?h with Johnny Bautista.

A Japanese film company traveled to Canada to accompany Shibaten and film a biography based on his life and travels to date, quite an accomplishment.
