The choir director pointed at me and said, “I want you to lead this song”. Some people consider me to be a “shy” person but I felt that this was my chance. I took the lyrics, and I walked towards the microphone. My younger sister and I had always played around at home having our own concerts. The music started to play, and the words started to flow from my mouth. I knew it, on this day that this is what I want to do for the rest of my life. This was 13 years ago.
March 17, 1984, born and raised in Waco,Texas , Shira Freeman, also known as Shi Musik is the oldest of two. Since the age of 5, Shira has belted out the vocals and added her own creative flare to the Just For Me commercials and to every song on the radio. At the age of 12, she began writing the lyrics to her songs, and by the age of 18 she had developed her own unique style. Shira experimented with rhyming and rapping as her talent does not stop at singing. Possessing very complex songwriting skills while having a quiet distinctive voice, Shira has become a competitive new artist on the circuit. Influences include Janet Jackson, Aaliyah, TLC, Sade. BB King, and Anita Baker. Yet Shira adds a new age Rock & B/Pop sound! Day in and day out, Shira works to improve her talent; so that she can share it with the world. Shira says "I cant explain what music means to me and I just hope someone feels something".
