i've always had the hardest time describing my music to people, myself included. i don't know what it is, and i like it that way. to be honest i try not to make it into anything other than what it already is. i feel unlimited in this way. flexible enough to create without too much self-criticism, yet focused enough to be clear in my direction. i leave the criticizing up to others to do. i like to imagine what Elliot Smith would not have done with his music, had he labeled it. he taught me you can be close friends with someone you've never met before. it motivates me to be myself and allows for emotion to be heard. my one goal is to finish songs while putting as much of myself into them as humanly possible. i like bands like Fleet Foxes, Feist, Conor Oberst, M.Ward, The Shins, Mountain Man, Death Cab, Laura Veirs, Coconut Records, Band of Horses, Bon Iver, Arcade fire, Jenny Lewis...etc. (i could do this all day, but you get the picture)
there is only one way to taste a strawberry and describing it doesn't get you any closer.
