"JT POV 11/11 — Plastizine and Shindig Avenue at The Good Hurt in W. LA"

Whoa brothers and sisters. Just got back from a surreal show at The Good Hurt on Venice Blvd. That place is a trip. Decent sound, a nice stage and a killer light set-up with psychedelic stuff on the walls. Def love seeing hardcore bands play there. It’s loud and grungy and pleasantly warm on a chilly night. We were treated tonight to Plastizine, a band celebrating its record release party. And there were enough people there to make for a nice party, like a coupla hundred. The band before them was pretty cool too, Shindig Avenue, led by Jeff, a cool dude who shreds on guitar. Will def see them live again soon. Here’s a slideshow of photos I took of the show. - Shock Box TV

"Shindig Avenue"

Shindig Avenue! The group features Jeff Toto on guitar and vocals, Jon Wheatley on bass and vocals, and Ryan Turi on drums and vocals. The group came together in early 2012 and quickly has become known for their edgy, yet melodic hooks, energetic live performances, and friendly banter with their audience. Their sound blends the intense rhythms and melodic progressions of early 90's SoCal punk, with rawness and urgency, topped off with some uplifting ska riffs. Their lyrics span a variety of topics including redemption, Hollywood cynicism, punk rock idealism, and addiction. Some choice tracks include "Death Sentence Blues", "Stop Breathing", and "Walking Home". Shindig Avenue frequently plays in the L.A. area and has been expanding their live shows to Long Beach, Hermosa Beach, Las Vegas and other SoCal venues. Come on down to Shindig Avenue for a show you won't forget!
