Bio

SHINE ROC, one of those reggae artist with a vocal sound from a legendary time. Born and raised in Kingston Jamaica, Shine Roc began his career in the mid 1990's. Growing up in the Allman Town area he discovered his love for music and began to develop himself as a conscious roots reggae artist. His desire to extend his message of love and unity stems mainly from the unremitting political violence and class division that he witnessed in the inner cities of Kingston. His name "Roc" is taken from his nickname "Rocky," and he has also asserted that "Shine" represents the values and beliefs that his messages will impart onto the people. In the mid 90's his debut singles “Humble Yourself” and “Evil A Gwaan” were released by BiggsRock Records, under his stage name at the time “L.A. Rock”, and produced at “Dub World Recording Studio." "Evil A Gwaan" became a radio and club hit in Jamaica. This brought him international recognition through Miami, England, Jamaica and Canada. He then released another single in 1997 “If You Drink Don’t Drive”, which was a big hit across America and also drew attention in Canada. In 1997 he toured throughout Canada and The United States as a headliner with "RZ Jackson," "Better-Way," and "Mighty Mystic." In 2004 his single “Don’t Bust-It” was a number one radio hit for many weeks and was named song of the year by “Zion Train". In 2007 his long awaited album "LIFE" was released internationally, and was well received by many reggae fans across the world . Shine Roc has shared the stage with artists such as Beres Hammond, Morgan Heritage, Shaggy, Gregory Isaak, Tony Rebel, Freddie Mcgregor, Beenie Man and more. He most recently performed at the One Love Reggae Concert Series in Negril, Jamaica and he is currently working on his new album set for release in the new year of 2011.
