The “Shing Shing Regime”, was formed in 2007. With all members, having honed their talents, skills and ability for crafting introspective, creative songs and making memorable music. The Shing Shing Regime has elevated their lyrical arsenal sparring with the best throughout the Underground Hip-Hop Circuit. In countless freestyle ciphers, studio sessions, radio show appearances, mix-tapes, album cuts, performances in their respective locations throughout the “Golden Horseshoe” (Southern Ontario, Canada). The group’s sound has since matured showcasing their sharp and floetic self style lyrics with a powerful message which all people can relate. Following, a restructuring of the crew, the core of the idea and music movement remains with original members, “Cee Self 7” and “Born Truth”. Further, with the restructuring of the crew came a new addition to the “regime” in the name of “DJ AKiiN” (a.k.a. “DJ TA-VU”) who had developed his talents as a member of the “Ojamanu Sound”. This group played and hosted various Hip-Hop radio shows on such stations from 98’- 03’circa in the Greater Toronto Area: CKLN 88.1 (“Static Radio Show”); CIRV 88.9 (“Moonlite Show”) and CIUT 89.5 (“Mixology Show”). Finally we have Born King (a.k.a “BK da General”), the advisor/mentor. Fast forward and the group is well on their way and hard at work on their formal debut (yet to be titled). The newly restructured team took on the “Shing Shing Regime” attribute, following the reformation of the original group which they explain as, a means of representing their newly formed idea and movement. “Shing Shing” first and foremost, as described by them, is a metaphor for being “sharp”; and to them is symbolic to the “sword”. The “sword” is an emblem of justice. Justice is the penalty or reward for one’s actions and as they see it, they are here to serve justice sonically taking Hip Hop back to its origin. The aim, to restore Hip Hop to its foundational roots giving it back to those people who made it powerful, the people. The “Regime” is simply the administration; we’re administrators of the truth, and have a deeper purpose to help aid in balancing the scales of the genre and provide the masses with some food for thought. With a style that does not preach but reaches the masses the “Shing” describes their art as social conscious commentary via the music. There is a saying, “with great power comes great responsibility!” The “Shing Shing Regime” are well aware of the power they wield via the microphone and they intend to leave their mark on the masses by crafting songs that are both content-filled, experience laced and at the same time listener friendly.
