Bio
Shinichiro Kamoto was born and grew up in Tokyo. He started playing percussion at the brass band in his high school and naturally developed interest in playing drums. After graduation, he decided to be a professional drummer and worked as an apprentice for one of Japanese top drummers, Motohiko Hino. He gradually became to devote himself to Scandinavian Jazz, and it made him to go Sweden and Denmark. He could have a chance to take lessons by Anders Kjellberg then, and Anders has been an eternal icon for him. He has played with not only Japanese but international top musicians, and has broaden his music style. Around 10 years after being a drummer, he began to compose some pieces in his own fashion, only slowly at that time, but as his piano skill gets improved, he has become an enthusiastic composer. Recently released CD, ‘Tales from the Blue’ (Thomas Walbum Trio), includes three of his pieces, and the CD’s last song as well as the title tune, ‘Tales from the Blue’ is actually his song.
