"Joe Henry (Producer/Songwriter)"

"Songs rooted by classic structure and held aloft by intensely personal poetry. Shira gives voice to the familiar themes of love and loss with all the appropriate mysteries intact....Startling and sublime." Joe Henry

Bio

While Shira evokes the legacy of jazz in her ethereal vocals and her harmonic sensibility, her lyrics are intimate and deeply introspective. Shira and guitarist Chris Bruce artfully blend elements of jazz and blues and ambient elements with a nod to the modern singer-songwriter.

Part chanteuse, part troubadour, Myrow's influences range from Billy Holiday and Jeff Buckley to Ray Charles and Leonard Cohen. Myrow seamlessly weaves them together with guitarist Chris Bruce (Me'shell Ndgeocello, Sheryl Crow, Seal), whose minimalist, soulful, ambient arrangements create a sonic backdrop that compliments Myrow's poetry.

Over the years, Shira has performed with pianist Brad Meldhau, producer Daniel Lanois and Joe Henry. She has collaborated with Michael Brook on several projects including the single for his last album "Rock, Paper, Scissors," and sang on drummer Brian Blade's 'Mama Rosa." Currently, Shira is working on a new collaboration with Chris Bruce and bassist Meshell N'dgeocello.
