Shirley Blaze

Finding talent is no longer a struggle in this era…. However finding a unique individual can be a struggle. Artists arise each year with the same commercial sound but every so often do you find that special talent as found in Shirley Blaze.

Shirley knew from a young age that music was her calling. Shirley attended the Salvation Army Bushwick Corps and learned how to play the Trumpet/Cornet at the age of 7. At the age of 8 Shirley went on to compete in a Brass and Vocal competition in Canada. From then on her Mother knew that she was destined to do something great with her talent. Shirley later on won numerous awards for her Singing and Brass skills. While in High School she joined her school Gospel Choir, played in the school band and later on joined the Gospel Choir New Sounds for Christ in Harlem New York. While being a member of the New Sounds for Christ she had the opportunity to travel and sing in Africa.

After realizing that singing was her main goal, she began
to showcase her talent by auditioning for both American Idol and Making the Band 3. Shirley has performed in various venues across New York while making sure that her name and music was being heard by as many people as possible.

She is keen to point out that the development of her unique style is the result of a lifetime of musical influences; such as Chaka Khan, and Whitney Houston. Also, the everyday music that she listens to such as Mariah Carey, Mary J. Blige, Alicia Keys and Beyonce, plays a major part in shaping her talent enormously.

Aside from singing, and knowing how to play a musical instrument; Shirley reads musical notes, is a song writer and has a flow not to be reckoned with. She has something to offer and is ready to let the world hear it.
