Shoubun

He is a music producer, beat maker, and saxophone player.

He played the piano as a child, started playing the clarinet and saxophone in junior high school, and has devoted himself to jazz.

After enrolling at Meiji University, he joined the university's big band jazz ensemble Big Sounds Society Orchestra. As a main soloist and concert master, he has won numerous awards in contests as a soloist, along with performance awards as a group. From when he was still enrolled, he started mainly doing recordings as a saxophone player, and also offering support at live performances for other musicians.

Starting in 2015, he worked for about 3 years as the band master and manipulator (synchronous music production) at the dance event WEFUNK organized by Victor Entertainment. This experience gave him the opportunity to develop an interest in DTM and electronic music, and starting in 2018, he began to do full scale compositions and beat making.

Currently, along with his activities as Naofumi Katsura playing the saxophone, he also produces and composes music as singer-songwriter Shoubun. He aims for a musical expression that harmonizes with Japanese pop music and music that is popular even around the world.

音楽プロデューサー、トラックメイカー、サックス奏者。

山口県の音楽一家に生まれ、幼少期よりピアノを始める。

中学よりクラリネット・サックスを始め、Jazzに傾倒。

明治大学に進学し、同大学の名門ビッグバンドジャズサークル「Big Sounds Society Orchestra」に入団。メインソリスト、コンサートマスターとして数々のコンテストでソリスト賞や団体での優秀賞を受賞。在学中よりサックス奏者としてレコーディングやアーティストのライブサポートを中心に活動を始める。

2015年より、ビクターエンタテインメント主催のダンスイベント『WEFUNK』にて約３年間バンドマスター兼マニピュレーター（同期音源制作）を務める。この経験を機にDTMやエレクトロミュージックに興味を持ち、2018年頃から本格的に作曲・トラックメイク活動を始める。

現在はサックス奏者「桂尚文」としての活動と並行して、「Shoubun」としてはシンガーソングライターのプロデュースや楽曲制作を行い、世界でも旬な音楽と日本的なPOPとの調和の取れた音楽を目指す。
