prolific and consistent, shoney's effortless blend of folk blues and rock is undeniable.

Biography

shoney's this skinny white dude out of daytona beach, florida. dude's prolific as all hell, having recorded 17 albums since 2003, and currently working on his 18th. his music is a lot of blues, a lot of rock, a little folk, and even something a little all his own. his writing has been consistently on point since the get-go,and his voice a unique and versatile instrument. so you got the music, you love the music, and then you see shoney live. nothing could quite prepare you for the man's blistering live show, as he stalks the stage and the audience, fearlessly pushes his songs out at the top of his lungs, having the audience laughing, clapping, singing along, even dancing at times. and he's up there all by himself. shoney currently resides in astoria, new york.

Lyrics

my revelation.

Written By: shoney lamar.

i seen god last nite in my revelation.
he said i should just do as i please.
i asked if i would rise just to topple,
he shrugged and said anything is possible,
then transformed himself into a hundred burning trees.

two bodies per cross in my revelation.
i never felt so close to jesus christ.
he said he did it to himself in the name of sin,
i said, "well, how the hell'd you get the third nail in?"
he said, "it all comes down to just being precise."

and when i see my king it discomforts me.
and i see, i perceive, i just cannot believe,
i just cannot believe what's been revealed to me tonite.

all footnotes lead right to my revelation.
don't mind me if i seem annoyed.
i just know my sins are gonna weigh more than my heart,
i swore an oath to my body, til death do us part.
and i see now that the world must be destroyed.

and when i see my king it discomforts me.
and i see, i perceive, i just cannot believe,
i just cannot believe what's been revealed to me tonite.

and i know you won't believe me cos i'm a pothead.
i know you won't believe me but it's true.
my baby got ten crowns and seven heads,
it's like deja vu all over again.
i guess it's something for you when there's nothing else to do.

me and my baby at the applecore.

Written By: shoney lamar.

i see yr father, ma, he's comin, crawlin cross my lawn.
i got my rifle seein just whose side he's on.
i need a little bit, a little bit, a little bit. yes i do.
i need a little bit of yr patience if i'ma make it through.

i see you, baby, other side of the fence on yr knees.
me and yr poppa up here shootin the breeze.
i need a little bit, a little bit, a little bit. taint no sin.
i need a little bit of yr company, stop beggin, just come on in.

i see myself in the future on a hot allston nite.
lookin like hell probly feelin alright.
i need a little bit, a little bit, a little bit. i need a little bit of yr sweet lovin...

i wanna do a drum solo. but i ain't good enough.
i want to do a drum solo but i ain't good enough.
i wanna speak for my fellow man but i ain't got the stuff.

oh i see us, baby, in the mirror, just a doin what we should.
i see the future naked, baby, damn it looks so good.
i need a little bit, a little bit, a little bit.
i need a little bit of yr sweet lovin, oh muffin, i need you.

abortion blues.

Written By: shoney lamar.

everybody wants my baby.
she just knocks off yr socks.
and when we walkin past the playground.
the boys all start throwin rocks.

everybody wants my baby.
the young men holler and shout.
the old men all get catatonic.
you just see tongues rollin out.

baby, we could make a killing
just parading you around.
baby, we could charge a shilling,
be millionaires by sundown.

cos everybody wants my baby.
she's the whole goddam show.
and if we ever get pulled over.
they take to looks and let us go.

baby, we could make a killing
just parading you around.
baby, we could charge a shilling,
be millionaires by sundown.

everybody needs some sweet stuff.
and my baby's like a tease.
cos everybody wants my baby.
but my baby just loves me.

everybody wants my baby.
she's like a different kind of blue.
she's like a dream you never had, boys.
and for me that dream has come true.
