Bio

Since birth, Shonobi was given the gift of jazz by his dad who listened to such greats as Thelonious Monk, Yusef Lateef, John Coltrane, Sarah Vaughn, and Nancy Wilson to name a few.

His love of music has deep roots in his family. His Grandfather who migrated from Andros Island Bahamas is a self-taught musician. He formed a Calypso band, where he was lead singer, played the guitar and bongo drums.

All of this may have been a contributing factor to Shonobi becoming a self-taught musician as well. He has worked hard and consistently since the age of 13 towards making music a priority in his life.

Born May 23, 1980 in North Miami, Florida, this talented Gemini has lived in Tampa since the age of nine. At the age of 14 he picked up an Alto Sax for the first time. He went on to become a member of the Adams Junior High and Gaither High School bands.

After two semesters at Hillsborough Community College, Shonobi left school and concentrated his efforts on writing, creating beats, and spending time in the studio.
