Bio
One day, Gabe and Grayson got Aaron out of bed at 2 o'clock in the morning, and they drove to Brasstown Bald, the highest point in Georgia, to watch the sunrise. It's only about two hours from where they live in Atlanta, so they killed some time at Wal-Mart in Dahlonega and pulled over on a mountain pass to look at the stars. When they got to the Brasstown Bald parking lot, there was a band of faint orange light behind the mountains on the horizon. They hiked the 0.6 miles to the summit as quickly as they could, Grayson and Gabe beating Aaron by several minutes. They looked down at the mountain range to the east and saw the sun rising from inside the orange band. It started as a brilliant red sliver in the middle of the sky, above the mountains, rising out of the earth's curve. The valleys filled with fog, and the Blue Ridge peaks were outlined with gold. It was a glorious Wednesday.
"The earth is charged with the grandeur of God/ It will flame out, like shining from shook foil." Gerard Manly Hopkins wrote that in a poem called "God's Grandeur." That's where Shook Foil's name comes from.
Shook Foil is four people from Atlanta who play indie rock music. The story above is not an origin. It's an attempt to prove to you that they are not boring people. In the time it took to read this, you could have listened to one of their songs, or at least a verse and chorus. Go listen and see if you like it.
