Bio

Making more than just a strong statement about the political and religious strife in their home country of Northern Ireland, Indie-Rock band Shoot The Preacher has been creating quite a buzz in the music industry with the release of their first E.P. “Wasting Time,” in addition to playing some of Europe’s best known venues; including: the MTV Festival, London’s Islington 02 Academy and The Cavern Club in Liverpool, as well as the renowned Proud Camden. Shoot The Preacher has also been featured in several major industry showcases throughout the United Kingdom, considered to be one of the best new bands to watch by the televised music series “Radar,” held at London’s acclaimed venue Under The Bridge, and also featured in a growing number of music publications as ‘having something to say’ and giving people ‘something to believe in’ throughout the tough economic and political times of Ireland’s most recent history.

Asserting a wide range of influence, from bands like: Oasis, Muse, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Foo Fighters, U2, Green Day and The Beatles gives Shoot the Preacher the ability to, in the words of singer Marty Rafferty, “reach the people that live for the weekend, for the chance to go out and be surrounded by all of their mates and celebrate life. Our songs are generally about feeling frustrated by the establishment, the religious conflicts in out country, about relationships, the working class and unemployment; but we want to deliver something positive out of it all and send a message of hope that is uplifting to peoples’ everyday lives.”

In addition to growing within the European market, this Irish four-piece has its sites set on touring and performing throughout the U.S., in the college, club and festival markets, in the not so distant future.
