Shore Leave


The calm before the storm, the fury during it and the quiet gentle aftermath. An experimental rock band from Cambridge. A new fresh sound with catchy guitar riffs overlayed with keyboards.


Jul 2002 - Ernesto Gianola and friend/drummer Russ Fischer record instrumental guitar/drums demo.

Aug 2002 - Freelance Journalist Fischer moves to Atlanta, GA.

Aug 2002 - Ernesto decides it's time to start a band and uses said demo to recruit bandmates. Mike Joy eventually gets a copy.

Winter 2002-2003 - Mike and Ernesto start playing guitar and recording their sessions weekly in Ernesto's apartment.

May 2003 - Mike recruits talented singer/songwriter Nick Gandee to play drums. Ernesto recruits multi-instrumentalist Afshin Beheshti on keyboards (who is the main member of The Afrosheens). Raucous practice space sessions start on the 15th.

Aug 2003 - Experimental Electronic musician Max Lord records demo at Wire Sounds. Band names themselves Shore Leave.

Dec 2003 - Shore Leave books their first show at The Middle East with The Rosebuds.

Feb 11, 2004 - another show at T.T. the Bear's Place Cambridge, MA w/ Hotel , California Stadium , The Deafening

a bunch of other shows (see Past Dates page) and then.....

Apr 25, 2004 - played with Sebadoh and The In-Out at T.T. the Bear's Place
