When guitarist, Pauli Gray, and keyboard player, Paula Sutor, got together to form a new music project they were both clear on one thing – neither wanted to play the other person’s favorite style of music. Coming from a punk and hard rock background, Gray insisted the music be heavy and driving. Sutor, a professed fan of synth pop and darkwave, wanted plenty of keyboards and drum machines. They both agreed the music needed to be dance-able and fun. When vocalist, Sunni McGarity, entered the picture, she brought along her jazz chops to throw into the mix. The result is Shot in the Dark, an electro rock trio that features lush vocals over synth-heavy grooves punctuated with precision guitar work.
