Bio
2007 marked the turning point in the musical career and direction of two young men fiercely caught in a time that was terribly anti-rock. Discovering a passion for the arena rock gods of the 1980s, Tony Midas and J.D. Steel set to invigorate a scene long dead for many years. The two put together a rock band featuring two guitars, slowly introducing a solid duo helping to compliment the band’s look and feel; Tod Diesel on drums and Dany Toxik on bass guitar. The band toured as Shotgun Highway, playing several gigs around Montreal, including large-scale venues such as Le National, Underworld, and Club Soda. The band produced and launched an early demo, selling several hundred copies. Meanwhile, soon to be front man and Canadian Idol finalist, Jesse Racicot, was busy working and recording with Steve Segal for the production of a demo. His joining with Shotgun Highway eventually streamlined the ideas behind his demo with those of a creative and hard-working band, soon culminating in the current Shotgun Highway EP. A source of pride for the band, this EP is a dynamic, rage-inducing rock album that brings forth an era of rock long forgotten, but direly in need of modern revival. Racicot’s rich, tumultuous vocals coupled with the backings of Steel and Toxic’s grooving rhythms, complimented by the blazingly quick solos of Midas, all held together by the thunderous beats of Diesel, do make the album well worth a listen.
