"Shotgun Jimmie - Transistor Sister"

"Solid indie rock songs that sometimes evoke Chad VanGaalen and Eric’s Trip prop up the narratives. The 16 tracks (some just experimental snippets) sail by in a breeze, with loose distorted guitar riffing atop laid-back drumming by Ryan Peters (Ladyhawk, Lightning Dust), unexpected and amusing flute parts and melodies that’ll follow you through the weekend."
-Carla Gillis, NOW Magazine - NOW Magazine (toronto weekly)

"Shotgun Jimmie - "Bar's Closed""

"…Shotgun Jimmie, what about us? How do we feel? Here's how: We feel like each of us just got high-fived so hard that our finger-bones shattered. We're all nursing our poor hands, & grinning."
-Sean Michaels, Said the Gramaphone - Said The Gramaphone

"More CD reviews: Shotgun Jimmie, Kurt Vile, R.E.M. and Brad Mehldau"

"His music is a beer-soaked love letter to the grungy 1990s – we hear Weezer and Sloan and, on Swamp Magic, Neil Young’s Crazy Horse. It’s rugged, focused and thoughtful, with no time wasted and no pretension."
-Brad Wheeler, The Globe and Mail - The Globe and Mail

Bio

World-traveler, collaborator, under-dog and hard-working man, Shotgun Jimmie stakes his claim for the hearts and minds of millions with his Polaris Prize long-listed release Transistor Sister (You've Changed Records). He recently appeared on John K. Samson's 2012 release Provincial (Epitaph/ANTI) and toured across North America and Europe as Samson's lead guitarist and opening act. Jimmie's one-man-band has been an audience favourite at numerous festivals including Slovakia's Pohoda, Pop Montreal, Halifax Pop Explosion, Sappyfest, Sled Island, Regina Folk Festival, Dawson City Music Festival, NXNE and Canadian Music Week. In addition to a nearly non-stop touring schedule, he has released three critically-acclaimed albums since 2007, as well as split releases with Joel Plaskett, Ladyhawk, and Attack in Black. His back-up band is a revolving cast featuring many of Canada's premiere musicians, who have also played with Feist, DoMakeSayThink, Constantines, Ladyhawk, and City and Colour. Look for Shotgun Jimmie's fourth solo album Everything, everything (You've Changed Records) in spring of 2013.
