Bio

Country music is dead. And if not dead, it's on life support. At least that's what the casual music fan might think when they see the stuff being pedaled out of Nashville these days. You know what I'm talking about. Diamond studded cowboy hats, men wearing skinny jeans that would make Tanya Tucker blush. Aviator sunglasses and airbrushed good looks. Somewhere along the way, country music artists gave way to entertainers. And the music suffered.

Real country music fans know that good music is being made today, just like it always has been, if you know where to look. Folks like Dale Watson, and Jason Boland and the Stragglers come to mind. Hank III. Legends still on the road like Merle Haggard, Billy Joe Shaver, and of course Willie Nelson. Men and women whose tour buses have practically worn tracks across the dusty plains, big cities, and farm lands of America. And then there comes a band from a little old place like Lyons, Colorado, a place founded on honest, hard work like ranching and quarrying red rock, that reminds you good country music comes from the strangest and most out of the way places.

Shotgun Moses keep one boot firmly entrenched in the past, with nods to the greats like Lefty Frizzell, Bobby Bare, Waylon Jennings, and the aforementioned legends. But these boys bring something new to the table as well. A certain sound that's not a retro tribute act, but not modern country either. In fact, sometimes it doesn't sound like country at all. And that's a good thing. So put another dollar in the jukebox, saddle up to your favorite bar, and order a cold one. You can rest assured that country music's not dead. As long as there are working people, and struggle, joy and pain, there will be country music. And go see Shotgun Moses. You'll know just what I mean.
