As One of Brooklyn’s Legendary Dancers in the Dancehall /Reggae Scene in New York City, With the Dance Crews (Judgment & Anytime Crew), performing in the NYC Nightclubs, Flex n Brooklyn Talent Showcases which were aired on Brooklyn Cable's Television BCAT. Dappa loved Dancing but being a Hip-Hop/Reggae Dancehall Artist was his greatest passion. As the 2nd oldest of six, Dapaa Don began his love for music at the age of 9, when he first started songwriting. Watching live recordings in the studio of International Reggae legendary group Michigan & Smiley. Spiritually listening to oldies of reggae music with his mother, native of London, England, and Father of Kingston, Jamaica.
Growing up in the Flatbush section of Brooklyn. Dappa had to obtain a no nonsense attitude due to the high crime and violence in his community. “It's a fact that Hard Times forces the best of people into life in the Streets”. Being raised by his dad and uncles taught him to be militant and fearless in life, achieving his goals. Even though Reggae music was his Passion, hip-hop flooded the streets of NYC. ”Dappa's Music Genre creatively combines Reggae Dancehall and hip-hop. One memorable performance for Dappa in Brooklyn was Headlining for Medgar Evers College Fashion Showcase in 2001.While focusing on his craft to combine the two, everything Dappa Don's experienced through his eyes, his heart, that's what resonates in his unique music. “If it involves me, moves me, inspires me, then that's what I’m going to write about”. I write songs for my fans to honestly know who I am. Dappa Don brings a laid back, fierce Style with straightforward lyrics to express the day-to-day Struggles of Ghetto People In da Urban Communities.
In 2002 he started to record in the Internationally known Don 1 Recording Studios, creating a fan base at community colleges, Clubs and non-profit organizations. In Brooklyn everybody knows the real Dappa. There are a lot of People who are imitating his style, trying to steal his unique name for industry purposes. Dappa couldn’t see himself with any other artist name.
Due to family Greed, Dappa Relocated to Miami in 2004, giving all his energy to music. Working in Ft. Lauderdale's THE HOLE Studios in 2007, Dappa was offered a Production Deal with Miami Indie Label StarBmJ Records. Unfortunately, the Company Folded, but the music lives on. Dappa achieved his break in south Florida performing for Digicel Jerk Chicken Festival Talent Competition. Continuing to Gain a strong following at open mic nights in Miami clubs and South Florida, Dappa’s more than ready to focus, energies driven into his music Making hits after hits.
Jay-z, Bounty Killer, Jr.Gong, Rick Ross, Gunplay are among some of his influences including, independent artists, among others in various genres. Everything possible one can do to Break Big in the music Business, Dappa's doing it. Music is Dappa's calling, his opportunity to make something of himself. Contributing originality, creativity and fullness into the music business. Showing the people I'm real and I'm here to make quality music. Dappa’s mission is to Spread Positive music that resonates with the Streets. Dappa owes that commitment to his fans. Dappa owes that to the world!.
