Bio

Born Kathy-Ann Murray in Trinidad and Tobago and raised in Toronto, Canada, from the age of nine, this little lady has a lot to say. At the age of 15, Shottie began performing at family gatherings. From then, she knew that becoming an entertainer would be her destiny. Music became her passion. At 15 years old, Shottie was entering and winning talent competitions. As she gained confidence, her stage presence blossomed. Her reputation as an entertainer is something she has worked hard at and will continue to do. Having gained a strong work ethic from years of practicing, Shottie has proven herself to be a dedicated professional. Shottie’s sound is original and definitely different from all other female artists in the music industry. This young star is ready to lead the next generation of artists to another level. Her dynamic flow and rugged yet racy lyrics make success for this sweet, sassy and sexy artist inevitable. Her music is a mixture of Hip-Hop, Rock, Funk, R&B, Alternative, Pop and Reggae, ranging from socially conscious to sensual, from humorous to hard, Shottie makes music that reflects the range of her experiences and cultural influences. Shottie observes that music today has lost its way; that it is not as creative and original as before, she notes, “everything that you hear on the radio, in the club, and see on the television, sounds the same.” Shottie says that her contribution to the music industry is to create quality and timeless music that people will appreciate now and for years to come. Her influences include Bob Marley, Gwen Stefani, Lauryn Hill, Mary J. Blige, Missy Elliott, Whitney Houston, Kanye West, Biggie Small, Tupac, Sizzla, U2, Billy Talent and Nelly furtado Presently Shottie is in the studio recording her album and preparing to release her first single, “GOT A MAN,” a conscious track that displays her versatile and unique brand of music.
