Shouting at Camels are a rock band which formed in 2009 in Perth, Western Australia. The Band have had an impact with their high energy live performances and are currently working on recording there first E.P. Grand Karma. The band consists of David Rose (vocals), Daniel Pekel (guitar), Richard Pekel (guitar), Brad Nelson (bass), and Luke Robertson (drums).
The Pekel brothers grew up in Geraldton a small town in the Mid West, Richard had a colossal hunger for music that Daniel inherited, influenced by AC DC and other Australian rock icons, Daniel would constantly skip school playing the guitars in the local music store. Before finishing school Richard headed south to Perth, guitar on shoulder. His younger brother would soon follow. Richard met drummer Luke when they were studying to be machinists. They would jam regularly for a few years, doing covers at home, this would soon fade and Shouting at Camels would be born.
Luke grew up in Bindoon a small country town 84km from Perth with good friend David, the two of them lived on the same dirt road for 17 years. Luke played drums at a young age which forged the powerfully hitting, almost Herculean like drummer that he is today. Richard, Luke and Daniel decided it was time to cut the covers and asked David to join them as there Lead singer, he showed promise as a writer and had a punch in the face enthusiasm, David would travel to many different parts of the world while writing the lyrics for Grand Karma, drawing on culture and politics as the foundation of his metaphoric and almost mad lyrics.
With only one person missing, David's cousin Brad joined the group on the Bass. Brad has an explosive energy that soon had him dragged into the net of mayhem that is Shouting at Camels. Their debut E.P. Grand Karma combines David's mind warping lyrics with Daniels chaotic riffs that will rap around your brain having you begging for more.
