Shugga

One female emcee is showing the world that a little bit of Shugga is exactly what the game needs. Proving that she’s more than just a pretty face, Shugga is bringing a fresh approach to hip hop with her unique style of music that has caught the ears of many and is destined to reach many more. Shugga started rapping in the eighth grade in hometown of Milwaukee. Counting hip hop heavyweights such as Nas, Scarface and The Fugees as influences, she joined her first rap group called S.O.C. in ’95. The following year she would relocate to Chicago,by herself, where she further perfected her smooth delivery and kinetic stage presence, both of which she’s known for to this day.

Shugga refuses to compromise her integrity and instead has become an artist that girls can relate to. “I make music because I love to.” she states emphatically, “Hip-hop music and music in general make me happy so hopefully anyone who listens to my music can feel it too.”

Throughout her career, she’s worked with the likes of Teddy Riley, No I.D., Jermaine Dupri and Twista amongst others. She hooked up with Chicago platinum producer Toxic, to produce her debut mixtape, Shit Ain’t Sweet Vol. 1.

She recently shot a video for the street single “Sweet 16” directed by Da Visionaryz and produced by Novacane. With an ever-growing fan base, the mixtape won’t hold fans over for long so Shugga has been hard at work creating new material for her upcoming debut album entitled, BitterSweet.

“I just want to continue to create music that I like and that speaks to everyone,” explains the hungry lyricist. Complete with a calculated flow chock full of cocky, conceptual and true to life lyrics, Shugga is bringing a new flavor to a stale hip hop game.
