"Band in Tune to Compete for Record Deal"

Sunday, June 18, 2006

The Southwest Side's own Shyster will try to snag a record deal Friday night during the citywide Mobfest showcase for unsigned bands.

The lads — Scott Bulanda, Nate Trumble, Dan Ulbricht and Geno "O'Brien" Schield — joined up last year as Shyster. Their styles just clicked.

Manager Art Haynes says the guys have "been there and done that long enough to know that it's all just a good time."

"It's just good ol' rock 'n' roll, Shyster style," he continued.

They name a few influences — The Beatles, Velvet Revolver — but don't like setting limits or being labeled.

"You name it ... it's all mixed in there somewhere," Haynes said.

Shyster plays June 23 at Jay's Bar in Crestwood.

Five bucks gets you in for an all-ages evening that starts around 9 p.m. Shyster takes the stage at 9:45.

The gang of working family guys is psyched to make it by getting signed. If not, it's not like anything could stop them from playing their rock 'n' roll anyway.

"It's a lifestyle they love and can't live without," Haynes said.

***NEW MUSIC JUST RELEASED 4/13/06*** Come and Get Some

With the release of their single 'Revolution,' Shyster stormed the Chicago music scene. Raw talent and the credibility of its members afforded Shyster the opportunity to debut at Chicago's Mobfest 2005 and the "revolution" had begun. Shyster consists of four guys from Chicago who have "been there and done that" long enough to know that it's all just a good time...The band fuses their influences together to create music that they enjoy...no formulas...no pinning the tunes to a specific confusing sub-genre...just good ol' rock-n-roll, Shyster style...
