Sibyl Roe

BandAlternativeSinger/Songwriter

Commanding and original! This alternative band captures a delicate combination of intensity and melody. With vocals reminiscent of Alanis Morissette and Janis Joplin coupled with intriguing songwriting ability, SIBYL ROE "picks up where some of your favorite artists left off..."

Biography

Sibyl Roe’s songs resonate with the universal themes of unrequited love, loss, addiction and the awakening of ones true self.

Rising and falling through the tracks of their songs is the sweetly vulnerable voice of lead singer Fiona Bates. Her artistic angst vaults Sibyl Roe “out of the box” of the current music scene, sending shivers through the spines of the bands growing fan base.

Fiona dove into LA’s music scene singing back up at the ROXY while, at the same time, starring in another band known as Longshot. It was during that time Fiona began to unlock her songwriting abilities.

Soon after leaving Longshot, Fiona met up with ‘Porno for Pyros’s’ Peter DiStefano, who in turn invited her to open a few shows for him as well as offering to produce her first 3-song EP.
Fiona then met Mike Bishop (lead guitarist), a NYC native, who had just moved to Los Angeles after circuiting Manhattan with different bands and playing with some of the worlds most renown touring and studio musicians; (Al Pitrell – (Alice Cooper), Mark Ambrosino - (Ray Charles, Perry Ferrel), Dave Chalfant - (The Neilds), Stanley Clark - (Aretha Frankllin, John Lennon) & Brian Miller.)
Together the two formed Sibyl Roe, along with Adam Levy on bass and Tim “Slim” on drums, and began playing around LA’s local venues (The Gig, The Joint, 14 Below, Molly Malone’s, & Room 5) as well as New York City’s Desmond’s Tavern & Kenny’s Castaway.

Sibyl Roe’s fan base has been rapidly spreading from coast to coast as well as internationally! All have been eagerly awaiting the release of their new 5 song EP.

This EP is the band's impressive debut. Produced by Mike Bishop and mixed by David Lawrence, (Reeves Gabrel’s, “Ulysses Della Notte” (w/ David Bowie & Robert Smith), Pat Martino "All Sides Now" (w/ Cassandra Wilson, Kevin Eubanks, Michael Hedges, Les Paul, Mike Stern, Joe Satriani) this 5-song taste of what is yet to come was tracked on the highest quality vintage gear giving it that old school tone real music lovers can truly appreciate.

Say’s Fiona, “To me it’s all about connecting on an emotional level. Music is the perfect medium to slip past people’s fronts and get into the places that really matter…”

DEGREES

Written By: Fiona Bates

I had a dream.
one of those silly things.
saw my life on.
a Technicolor screen.

But as much as I want to believe... We see what we want in degrees

A voice shot out.
cut clear across the land.
said I've come here to restore. faith in your fellow man

But as much as I want to believe...
We see what we want in degrees

And the powers that be.
found me down on my knees. surrendering it all.
it's not too late.
to seal your fate

As much as I want to believe...
We see what we want in degrees

As much as I want to believe...
We see what we want in degrees

But everyone around was raging. angry and afraid of changing. entitled to hold on living.
unwilling

PEDESTAL

Written By: Fiona Bates

I feel invisible
like something you see though
we both know
I'm standing in front of you
oh there I go
I should know better to be vulnerable
in your company

Is it I'm not enough
to be raising you above myself
oh I'll knock you off
your pedestal

Maybe I'm insecure
and that which is mine I confess
to you all
in my self defense
oh but you should know
the lengths I have traveled beyond for your love
drawing blood from a stone

Is it I'm not enough
to be raising you above myself
oh I'll knock you off
your pedestal

I feel invisible
so fucking insecure
for your love
but no more

Is it I'm not enough
to be raising you above myself
oh I'll knock you off
your pedestal

VIRGINIA

Written By: Fiona Bates

Virginia
So ashamed
The dishes are clean
I promised to put them away
Oh momma,
Oh where do I begin?
I always said I understand & I do
I'm just a watered down version of you

Rocking the boat comes naturally I'll choose my words more carefully Can you forgive me?
Cradle and all
I fall

Virginia
Eyes aflame
Teach me to run
And I'll never be in your way
Oh momma,
Oh where do I begin?
Can you feel the thunder
Dress me up
Like your wicked hangovers

Rocking the boat comes naturally I'll choose my words more carefully
Can you forgive me?
Cradle and all
I fall
I fall
I fall
I fall.
