"4,5/5 from Metal Temple, Greece"

"...I just can’t stop listening to their debut masterpiece!"

When I first saw this album, I noticed some familiar stuff such as the artwork, which reminded me of someone’s works and the name seemed too "classic". Anyway, what was more than obvious was that this band was surely a modern Metal act with many groovy parts. I just came up with this thought while looking at the album’s overall style (name, logo and artwork). Let’s see, maybe I am right.

SIC hail from Faroe Islands and were formed in 2002. Since their official site’s link sends you to their official Myspace page, I didn’t find much bio stuff that were worth mentioning. From what I managed to understand, this is their debut album and it was produced by the well-known producer Tommy Hansen. I was also right about the artwork, since it has been designed by the Greek artist Seth Siro Anton.

If someone told me that I was going to be stunned by the music of a band that hails from Faroe Islands, I would just laugh the shit out of me. No offense, but Faroe Islands have no tradition and this is the first time I hear about a Metal band from there. Anyway, SIC kick some major ass with their "modern" Metal extreme assault. Their groovy, yet brutal and extreme industrialized style reminds of bands like MNEMIC, FEAR FACTORY, CHIMAIRA and some RAUNCHY.

Equipped with a more than good production (credits go to Mr. Hansen), SIC perfectly blend some old school Thrash with Hardcore and Nu Metal influences, to create an ass kicking mixture that will blow your brains on the wall! While listening to "Pandemonium", you just can’t stop headbanging! This band’s members really have a high level of "grooviness" in their blood! I don’t know if I am more excited than I should be, but in my humble opinion SIC’s "Pandemonium" is one step further than MNEMIC’s latest album.

What more can I say about these mates? They kicked the living shit out of me and I just can’t stop listening to their debut masterpiece! If this is their first full-length effort, what the fuck will they release next? Guys take a close look at these guys, because as it seems we will be seeing them a lot in the future.

"From Metal Only, Sweden"

From The Faroe Islands we bring you SIC that was created in 2002 by the guitarist Eddie Jacobsen. In 2003 the band got company by the vocalist Mikkjal G. Hansen. But it wasn’t until 2005 that SIC became whole with Magnus Hansen on drums, Frans Galán on guitar and Gudmar Hansen on bass. 2006 they recorded “Pandemonium”, which contains 13 tracks, on 15 days! The release was a fact earlier this year and so far the album has got a great reception from zines as this one.

SIC plays their thrash/hardcore/metal music, as it would be the most natural thing to do in the world. It’s a wonderful flow where influences got to come from a lot of different places. If you gonna compare this with other bands the list will be long. It’s a mixture between heavy minded grunge liked atmosphere that meet a hard chaos tornado sweeping over the beautiful world, where all gets swallowed. But if you’re gonna describe SIC’s music as sick or not planned you’re on deep water. There’s a lot of thought and work behind it, not so much when it comes to riff and so on, but when it comes to the feeling that is mediated, this they manage to do extremely well. Even if the song material in itself isn’t the best that has been produced, the aggression, anxiety and the understanding you feel as a listener trough the channel that is called SIC balance this. For me, this become almost a meditative experience where the whole are taking me away from my tragic environment to a place with meaning a some god damn aggression. There’s nothing new with the elements SIC are using in creating their music, but it’s how they use them. Even if SIC aren’t a revolutionary phenomena it’s so impressive that they manage to squeeze this great amount of good shit on their first full-length album. I’m not listening on a new band, but on a well established band that sound incredibly professional. This music makes me want to drive really fast, run from the cops or rob a bank. Which is a very good grade. The skill to be an artist with many pallets flows within the band but I’m most impressed by the vocalist Mikkjals broad spectra and Magnus drums that without a doubt carry a lot of the solid wall that are delivered from the remaining musicians in the band. I’m having trouble to find a favourite track when they all are very at the same level, but on “Fading” I find all I want. I also like the abstract track “Number 6” where a female voice together with sound effects creates a kind of intro to “Rosegarden In Hell”

If SIC gets a good promotion where the right people gets to hear their creation, they will in the future be a natural sight on the big international scenes. At least I’m curious how this will sound live and above all what SIC will accomplish next.

"70% from Heavymetal.dk"

"4/6 in B.T."

"4/6 from Metalzone.dk"

"8/10 in Obliveon"

"8.8/10 on Rockum"

(english translation)

"This time in Rockum, we present to you the band Sic whom have visited us from the far-away Faroe Islands, showing us that distance isn't an obstacle in reaching people's ears.

No matter how far away they are, these guys have provided us with her plated discography entitled Pandemonium that is composed of 13 themes, much in the styles of bands like Sevendust in their greatest years, as well as Machine Head, Slipknot, and Glassjaw, but that are more in the conceptual style of Cavalera in the times of Roots or in the early years of Soulfly; I think, perhaps, Ross Robinson would have fit in very well with this band.

Mikkjal captures and reupdates a style that is on the level of the singers of those (other) bands. His vocal scale reaches tones that are widely accepted in the parameters of what we might call "post/numetal" in the year 2007.
The atmosphere of this album is very acceptable; it mixes the power of nu metal although, perhaps, with certain details that are more radical and strong but that is ultimately placed under the aspect of hard rock.

Of the 13 themes which they have created in the album Pandemonium I would recommend "Reach Inside", "To Dare to Risk", and "Keep It to Yourself", among others.

This band is comprised of
Mikkjal G. Hansen - vocalist,
Eddie Jacobsen - guitar,
Frans Galán - guitar,
Gudmar Hansen - bass, and Magnus Hansen - drums.

Recorded in the Jailhouse Studios, and produced by Tommy Hansen and Sic, it accomplishes very good presentation and interesting art, which Seth Siro Anton was responsible for making a reality.

Apparently the guys of Sic have carried everything out with much professionalism, a situation which deserves much praise.
Let's provide them with an opportunity (to bring their music to) Latin American. Look for them and listen to them; as for me, I'm very satisfied with this band." - @ www.rockumweb.com

Bio

Faroese SIC recorded their first album ”Pandemonium” in
Denmark with producer Tommy Hansen (Helloween, Pretty
Maids) in 2006 and followed it up with a full scale tour along
with Danish metal act Hatesphere and opening for Gojira on
two occassions. SIC recruited Danish drummer Dennis Buhl (ex
Hatesphere/The Kandidate) in December 2009, and is now
ready with the second full length album ”Fighters They Bleed”
produced by acclaimed producer Jacob Hansen (Volbeat,
Heaven Shall Burn, Destrcution) and mixed by Tue Madsen
(Sick Of It All, The Haunted, Dark Tranquillity). SIC deliver
merciless death/thrash as sharp as a knife, with a modern
touch.

SIC was disfigured and mutated at one of the most isolated places on earth, the
Faroe Islands, in 2002, by founder, guitarist and co-manager Eddie Jacobsen. In
2003 he joined forces with frontman Mikkjal G. Hansen. In 2005 the lineup was
finally complete and work on the band’s debut album “Pandemonium” began!

The band recorded the album at Jailhouse Studios in September 2006 together
with producer Tommy Hansen (HELLOWEEN, PRETTY MAIDS). The album was
released by Faroe Islands-based TUTL Records in February 2007.
“Pandemonium” grabbed the attention of many online communities and word
began spreading all over the world almost instantly.

In 2009 the band went on its first full scale tour along with Danish metal act
HATESPHERE. SIC played over 50 shows during a 2 month period with half of
the tour being with HATESPHERE. During that period SIC also opened twice for
French metal act GOJIRA. The second half of the tour saw SIC co-headlining
close to 20 shows in the UK together with various local acts such as ATTICA
RAGE, TEN TON DOZER and others. During the entire tour SIC really developed
into a brutal force upon stage and this was recognized by both fans and the media
and earned the band a lot of recognition.

In the fall of 2009 SIC began working on its sophomore album “Fighters They
Bleed”. However, in December 2009 drummer Magnus Hansen parted ways with
the band due to personal reasons. SIC began looking for a new drummer right
away and it did not take long before Dennis Buhl (ex-HATESPHERE) agreed to
join forces with the band.

In May 2010 all 12 titles for the album were ready and SIC went to Hansen
Studios, in Ribe, Denmark to begin recording “Fighters They Bleed” together with
acclaimed producer Jacob Hansen (VOLBEAT, MERCENARY, NIGHTRAGE,
TYR, HEAVEN SHALL BURN). SIC and Eyðun M. Thomsen also co-produced the
album.

“Fighters They Bleed” was mixed and mastered at Antfarm Studios, in Århus,
Denmark, by Tue Madsen (DARK TRANQUILLITY, THE HAUNTED,
MOONSPELL, MNEMIC, HALFORD) and will hit the European market on April
11th via Mighty Music / Target Distribution.
