"9/10"

Both Sign of the Times and Anarchy show the band to be a high energetic feral indie rock band with huge punchy riffs, machine gun beats and infectious attitude fuelled vocals. As introductions go this is pretty damn impressive, Sick City Club seem to have it all, catchy songs, abbrassive guitars and shed loads of attitude. 9/10 - Rhythm + Booze - Rhythm And Booze

"Thought She Was Leaving Review"

Sounds like a another good un to me; Birmingham indie rocksters Sick City Club's new single, 'Thought She Was Leaving', has commercial written right through it. Radio 'jocks' like a song with a bit of 'go' in it, instant appeal, a buzz! Well, 'Thought She Was Leaving' by Sick City Club has all those attributes and more so 'air-time' exposure shouldn't be a problem.
'Thought She Was Leaving' is an energetic and pacey work run through with big guitar chords, hooks aplenty and a fair degree of singalongability. Yes, pretty damn commercial and handled with great professionalism, 'Thought She Was Leaving' does everything it needs to do to get itself noticed and talked about.

'Thought She Was Leaving' somehow reminds me of James; similar drive, similar catchy style, bubbly, bright and definitely on the right track. Sick City Club execute the song with great unity and near tangible passion. There's nothing at all pretentious about this outfit and their genuine approach to their work leaves me feeling as though I've been properly entertained rather than simply cajoled into listening. Sick City Club show that indie is still viable as a commercial genre. OK, so Sick City Club are perhaps more pop that pure indie but these guys seem to have a focus as well as an urgency to them - Sick City Club make pop music just a touch more real and make indie a tad more 'instant'.

'Thought She Was Leaving' by Sick City Club is a crackin' single; radio friendly yet ballsy, commercial yet coolly rockin', 'Though She Was Leaving' definitely has the potential to get noticed and help raise the profile of the excellent Sick City Club!

Bio

Sick City Club are a testament to a "can do" attitude. Four relative strangers who formed a band, they can now rightly claim to be one of the biggest bands on the Birmingham music scene. In their short life, they have shared the stage with bands and acts as established and diverse Little Man Tate, The Futureheads, The Twang, Taio Cruz, Chipmunk, Zane Lowe, Kano, Wiley, Underground Heroes, Robots in Disguise, The Troubadours and Young Heart Attack, gaining praise from everyone who shares in the energy of their live shows. Radio 1 have been playing the band regularly for 6 months, with Nick Grimshaw and Steve Lemacq particular champions of the band.

They recorded the four tracks on this page with renowned producer Gavin Monaghan, who has previously sprinkled his magic touch on bands such as Editors, The Twang, Kings Of Leon, and of course the legendary Robert Plant. The album is out through their own label on the 5th July, and first single, Embarrassing Monday, is out now.

A limited edition promo release of the track Sign Of The Times garnered airplay from stations such as Kerrang! BBC Nan Gaidhael, BBC Radio WM, BBC Nottingham, and local stations up and down the country, as well as many favourable reviews, as seen below. Such was the response to the track that BBC Radio WM Introducing had the band in for a session only a few weeks after recieving it.

The band were also chosen as house band on BBC Radio 1 in July, which garnered them new fans, a song play and an interview on the immensely popular Sunday evening BBC Switch programme.

Having had several songs touted as "potential hit records" by many corners of the music industry, Sick City Club aim to consolidate their current success and build on it as they try to move up the ladder that is the music industry.
