Bio

[sic] aka Dan Jeffries is fast becoming one of the biggest names in Bristol's Techno, minimal and tech-house scene.

Heralding from the days of Old Skool rave, mid-90s US House and Drum and Bass, Dan has developed a sound he likes to call 'Party Minimal' - maintaining the techno vibe but always focusing on melody - with a cheeky injection of humour and quirkyness.

After major brain surgery back in 2007, Dan decided to move away from Drum and Bass and focus on an emerging sound that reminded him of the US House he loved back in the 90s.

It wasn't long before Dan's tunes were getting snapped up - first off by Dropkick Records and then from local labels Aux Technology, Slime and Re:Sound. 'Chomp' was the first release on Slime (and featured a widely loved Phaelah remix), with Venue giving it 4 stars, saying:

"[Chomp] displays genuinely refreshing lateral thinking, making two unlikely bedfellows, garage and minimal techno, into the perfect couple, then topping things off with the all-important hook: a ruthlessly simple but devastatingly effective bassline that will have you shaking a leg whether on the dancefloor or at the bus stop."

Other releases on Aux Records and Re:Sound were also shaking up dancefloors, with latin-influenced 'Acesso Rapdio' on Re:Sound receiving another 4 star review from Venue, stating:

"Bristol has never been a techno hotbed - that could change... "

2010 ended on a particular high as Dan's remix of '1987' reached No 1 in the Trackitdown Charts, and has stayed in the top 10 for over 2 months.

As well as producing, Dan has also played for numerous nights in Bristol and beyond - Drama, Digital, LOST!, We Multiply (supporting Felix da Housecat), TOYS, Tribe of Frog - and will also be playing Ministry of Sound in London in mid-March.
