Bio

Over the last few years, there has been a resurgence of the One Hit Wonder and albums with two hot singles and little more to carry their own weight and justify the album’s purchase. Though there have been a few successes, far and in between, the hit or miss aspects of today’s hip-hop have left many fans and artists alike with a bad taste in their mouth. Not only are fans at a loss for the soul banging beats and uplifting words from the greats of old, but established artists even crave the new blood of the up and coming; looking for mix tapes being sold out of the backseats of cars or through the more modern and technological form of digital download. To help curb this appetite…enter Siddiq. Born and raised in Washington D.C., Siddiq was transplanted to the South per his time in the U.S. Air Force, but has since stayed and made his home along the Gulf Coast of Florida.

While not new to the hip-hop scene, Siddiq is a breath of fresh air to the game much like the breezes along his home area of the Destin and Pensacola Beaches.  His beats and rhymes usher in the unadulterated, melodic, thought-provoking lyricism of past legends, such as L.L. Cool J and Tupac, who also serve as musical inspirations for the artist. Siddiq seeks to provide his audience with an entire musical voyage with his debut release effort, Atria, from the intro tracks to the album credits, just as Dr. Dre’s The Chronic did for him years ago

Unlike anything on the radio today, Atria, straps in listeners for a journey into Siddiq’s inner most thoughts and the center of his being, hence the mini-EP’s moniker. Or, in his own words “the songs are all personal…they come from within…everything I say is from my heart.” The Atria  MEP offers listeners a sampling of what the artist has on deck in his arsenal. Whether you’re driving out with the hard-hitting bass beat of Roll Wit Ya or setting the cruise control to the smooth tempo of What I Do or even looking to ride slow to the lyrical ballad See You Again, Atria is the MEP that screams out the old adage of quality over quantity. Get to know this up and comer through his words and his songs and stay tuned for his follow-up project, Ventricle, as Siddiq is no where near done with you yet.
