The best kept secret in music

"Live April 2007"

Boy-girl harmonies, fuzzed up guitar, adrenalin spiked songs and glitzy-kitsch outfits are just some of the things that make Sidecar Kisses early support slot worth skipping dinner for. It may mean the beer goes straight to your head, but their peroxide power punk pop eagerly fills the void with its sexy and occasionally aggressive intensity. Though there aren't too many people here, the bands musical and visual theatrics are strong enought to not suffer as a result. The moral?! Eat less, listen more. - The Fly

"Wire Stripper"

For those of you that like your music to have a slightly retro sound, look no further than the Sidecar Kisses to get your kicks. Their influences go way back, all the way to 4AD. Not the year obviously: the label. They sound an awful lot better than some Neanderthal beating two rocks together.
Wirestripper is propelled by a big solid bass line, not dissimilar to the kind of thing you'd find gracing The Breeders' Cannonball, or any number of old Mclusky songs. There's some fine angular guitars here too that fade in and out of consciousness in a thoroughly pleasing manner.

What makes Wirestripper stand out from countless other songs that follow a similar route is the twin vocals of Ritz and Rhydian. The vocal lines twist around each other entwining like a pair of hysterical lovers, crossing several emotional boundaries in the space of a couple of minutes. Never has the singing of "I really don't care" sounded less convincing. Sidecar Kisses obviously care, and so should you.

"Wire Stripper"

The return of the Pixies and the critical and commerical success of Arcade Fire were bound to have far reaching consequences, especially up in North Wales where Sidecar Kisses have taken the band's influences and added them to the fluent and rousing 'Wire Stripper', a track so good the band decided to put their money where their smoochin' mouths are and put it out themselves when all the stupid record companies ignored it. Shame on them and a pox on their A&R Departments... - Playlouder

"Wire Stripper"

SIDECAR KISSES – Wire Stripper (Sidecar Kisses) – A rather decent, delightfully (timeless) Pixies style harmonised indie-grungy slice of sharp and rather clever (duel vocal) pop rock (from Wales) that kind of hints in a positive at fine things like Angel Cage or indeed those Breeders. Well worth checking out - The Organ

"Wire Stripper"

''With 'Wire Stripper' Sidecar Kisses have embraced that molten core of pop rock that only T.Rex and Goldfrapp have ever truly mastered'' - Burn Magazine

"NME"

''Like a silver bullet fired from a glittery revolver.Loud , sharp and sexy'' - Dan Martin

"Live Malta"

AM Promotions are back for the first time this year bringing to our shores another up and coming overseas alternative band following the successful John et Jehn, This et Al and Willard Grant Conspiracy concerts last year.
Highly rated British outfit 'Sidecar Kisses,' will be playing at Poxx Bar, Paceville on Saturday the 12th of May.
Sidecar Kisses may just have a few singles under their belt so far but they have already been showered with critical acclaim by top UK magazines.
NME defined them as 'loud, sharp and sexy,' while The Organ magazine described their music as 'delightfully timeless.'
The four members of 'grunged-up art rock' band Sidecar Kisses have put together a glamorous musical force to be reckoned with. Their dual close harmony vocals(courtesy of Rhydian Davies and Ritzy Bryan) and roaring buzz-saw guitars, are influenced by the alt-rock Americana of The Pixies and Sonic Youth mixed with a healthy of British new wave and post punk.
Following their two well-received singles (on heavy rotation at BBC6 and XFM(UK) the band has been busy recording it's debut album and playing a number of gigs in the UK.Being constantly championed by influential UK DJ's Steve Lamacq and Tom Robinson has helped push them further into the limelight.
Supporting Sidecar Kisses on the night will be local band Retrophytes. Although relatively new to the scene,Retropythes are already one
of Malta's most sought after live bands. Their elaborate instrumentations and bold songwriting have been compared to the likes of Muse and Tool amongst others.
DJ Zickler will be spinning some of the best indie tunes before and after the gig ...
This highly anticipated night is being sponsored by Cisk Export,Brand Malta and Radio 101.
Tickets at Lm3.50 are available from Anthony D'Amato(Valletta), Exit(Valletta & Paola),Miss Sixty(Sliema) and PrintXPress(University)

Bio

sidecar kisses slice through all that is drab and riskless with a double edged sword. It's music to love to, fall out to and flirt to. They are a heady mix of emotions, with every up comes a down with every fight comes a kiss.

Straddling and spurring this monster along are Ritzy,Rhydian and Justin, wielding vocals that tease and twist in feisty joy. Added to this are fuzzed up bass lines and thumping drums, creating bottom end that Little Richard would be proud of.

Like Pavement, Interpol, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Flaming Lips....who knows?! have a listen. They themselves have been championed by Steve Lamacq, Tom Robinson, The Futureheads, Claire Grogan and The Duke Spirit.
