SIDEWINDER: Formed in September, 2007. This young band started opening for some of the premier local bands around Aquidneck Island and Bristol’s night clubs where they raise a few eyebrows with their mature style of music and hard driving sounds. Sidewinder's inflences: Led Zeppelin, Stevie Ray Vaughan, AC/DC, B. B. King, Jimi Hendrix, Rolling Stones, Steve Vai, Eric Clapton, Van Halen, Queen, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Paul Gilbert, Frank Zappa, Ozzy Osborne, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Aerosmith, Pink Floyd, Joe Satriani, Scorpions, Guns n' Roses, Metallica, Joe Walsh, ZZ Top, Johnny A, Paul Zunno, Gary Hoey, Motley Crue, Los Lonely Boys, Spinal Tap, Primus, and many more.
-Chris Vaillancourt - Guitar/Vocals -
Chris gives Sidewinder it's searing guitar sound and vocals. Chris first showed his interest in guitar at age 13, and his love for guitar has been unconditional ever since. Born in Newport, RI and currently resides in Portsmouth, RI, Chris attends East Bay Met School where he is pursuing a musical career as a junior this year. In ‘07, Chris attended studies at Salve Regina University and enjoyed the valuable opportunity to complete an intership under Peter Davis at Salve Music department. Chris also has attended Berklee School of Music for the past two summers.
-Sam Ewing - Guitar/Vocals-
Sam provides guitar riffs with his Strat, and some sweet vocals on covers of Radiohead and Sublime. Born in Berkeley, California, Sam moved to Rhode Island when he was ten years old. Now a senior at Portsmouth High School, Sam has been playing guitar since the age of eleven.
-Zig Coffey - Drums-
A drummer beyond his years, Zig Coffey keeps Sidewinder in the groove. Zig is a third generation drummer following in his father's and grandfather's footsteps. Zig currently studies with Navy drummer David Ward. Zig resides in Newport, Rhode Island and attends Bishop Stang High School in New Bedford, Mass.
-Elias Wheeler - Bass Guitar-
Elias supplies the solid, driving bass lines for Sidewinder. Hailing from Portsmouth, Rhode Island, he attends Portsmouth High School, and he is junior this year. Elias has been playing guitar since the age of twelve.
