Signif (significant), from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, is one of a new breed of artists that would be classified as “Reality Rap” in that her writing direction doesn’t depend on the latest trend, but rather what she feels, or whatever the track bring out at that moment.

Signif-Flawed EP album

In this culture called Hip Hop, it's very rare for a woman to get any shine. While this is just a microcosm of our society as a whole, it still is a evident problem in Hip Hop. The only women who seem to get any shine are ones that use their bodies and sexuality to gain fans (i.e. Nicki Minaj, Lil Kim, etc.). This is not to judge them, but honestly, I know there are others out here that don't have to constantly talk about sex to be considered dope (Jean Grae, Tiye Phoenix, MC Lyte is still dope! With that, I bring ya'll and up and coming artist that you may be hearing alot more of in the future, Signif.

So the Milwaukee raised New York residing Femcee Signif released an e.p. called Beautifully Flawed.....Well Let me just say if your looking for good feeling music and a emcee with a strong voice,and actual skill then you've got it here. The beat selection is really good for her voice and gives a really dope vibe to the over all project, and 1 of the standout tracks is Champion where she proves that she's got bars. With lines like " i stay boney from the ribcage down /just incase i gotta spinal tap a few of these clowns" I was like dang thats how you feel or when she affirmed why lines like that are just what she does when she said "drop more lines then the highest level of tetris". Signif Definitely holds her own on that punchline tip. But she also flaunts her storytelling skills on the track properly named Flawed. Its a introspective track about coming to terms with your flaws whether it be drinking or misguided love. Its defintiley a song that show's versatality, and it doesn't sound forced or unauthentic. But the STANDOUT TRACK to me is "Lovely imperfections". Its such a dope song paints a picture of the hood and its poverty and the mindset of someone chasing there dream. With lines like "keep my eyes low stay focus on the goal/got the heart of a slave wit with a tortured soul/like i feel they watchin over me my anscesor glow/keep me covered like them thermo's when degrees hit below/and i'm forced to pick a path but don't know which way to go/". It also show's sometimes these dream chaser's are not always 100% sure what direction to go but society forces us to move on. This is such a honest dope track. But then Signif reminds us that she's sure of her self with the following bars "Clear conscious not hatred/ so pill up like the matrix/ then i peel off in my spaceship feeling so complacent/friends I used to know become faceless/face it not going back to the basic/ even if I only got $1 and i'm on the streets naked/ do you understand my ambitions i'm a make it". I mean if your not convince I don't know what to tell you. This e.p. is sooo dope only downfall i'd say to it is some of the songs are to short and i would love to have hear more, but I guess we have to wait for the album. But i guess to sum it up this e.p. gets my stamp of approval.....BLAT!

Signif or Significant, born and raised in Milwaukee was first put on to Hip Hop by her older brothers and started doing poetry at the age of 8. Poetry eventually turned into freestyle, and then into song writing as a result of her love for music. Her style can be described as just that... her, its how she lives and breaths. Signif is one of a new breed of artists that would be classified as "Reality Rap" in that her writing direction doesn't depend on the latest trend, but rather what she feels, or whatever the track bring out at that moment. With a versatile flow that ranges from intense to laid back, Signif uses her words to paints vivid images of the world through her eyes. Signif is a complex artist with a simple message which is "it's OK to be you", we live in a time with a lot of fads and modern day aristocracies and people desperately seeking approval, she just want to remind everyone out there that's "it's OK to be yourself".

She's one of the individuals that I've previously mentioned who is putting in her share of work. I'm feeling her EP titled "Flawed". One of her tracks titled "Thearaputic" feat Godfr33 is pretty self explanatory. It explains how she uses her music as her medicine..."It's my music, ma ma music". I definitely like to get my "Hip Hop On" with the second track as she uses her dope metaphors and ill classic style. This joint makes me want to join a sepha! She speaks "Hot Truth".
