An Emcee is defined as a master of moving the crowd the ability
rhyme in a rap form while performing spoken word. Growing up in
the 80’s and early 90’s I was privileged to have listened to Emcee’s
like KRS-ONE, Slick Rick, LL Cool J and Big Daddy Kane.
When it comes to S.I.G. Anthony he reminds me of these
legends who once dominated hip-hop in the late 80’s. Through
the trials and tribulations that many young artists go through, a lot
of record labels try to overlook them and write them off as
outcasts in the music pool of not having that it factor. The It factor
is breed deep in the MC born in the Parish of St. Elizabeth,
Jamaica;

Garry Binns a.k.a. Sig Anthony has always been able to make
extraordinary music that many of the MC’s Fans has always
enjoyed before his days as Sig Anthony. The rapper Donned, DJ.
S.I.G isn't new to the game of hip-hop and reggae by no means at
all. Sig Anthony’s styles are smooth still yet rough with flowing
lyrics that penetrates the thickest prison walls from New Jersey to
California.

On his Debut album “G2 the Good Sun” Sig Anthony delivers with
pain, love, triumph and defeat. His lyrics tells the tales of the life
he endured while growing up in the drug infested and gang
congested streets of New Jersey. Sig Anthony’s versatility shows
in his writing which enables him to open up for the ladies on his
slow cut “me and you” and “oh baby’.

Binns, like most foreign born artists who never forget where they
come from takes us on a journey to the Reggae dance hall scene
with his club bangers “from yah” and “Sey Dem a badman”.
Which he DJ’s his lyrics in his undeniable Jamaican accent that
flows naturally like the Niagara Falls. Sig Anthony’s definitely a
force to be wrecking with for years come.

ATB got the chance to sit down with Sig Anthony and asked him a
few questions about his album his past moves and his next
move as an artist, entrepreneur and actor S.I.G. Anthony..

ATB: Is Garry Binns anything similar to Sig Anthony?

Sig Anthony: Um.. Similar in away but yet different Garry is the
business man and Sig Anthony is the soul of the business man
the talent. Garry has to deal with logical side of life. Sig has no
concept of the logical side because Sig has no Boundaries
almost to say that he’s super human. Garry and Sig is still the
same though, Just two hustlers in one. Everything that Sig Talks
about Garry has already done

ATB: In Florida when you where in high school you were known
for coordinating talent shows what was that like for you putting all
that together?

Sig Anthony: It was real easy; it was not hard by any means. It
started with a group of us just free styling back in high school at
lunch. Then I started to DeeJay and everybody was in aw and cats
like it. You know everyday for lunch it became an expected thing.
Every body in school knew where our ciphers were.

ATB: How would you describe the vibes of your music?

Sig Anthony: My Vibes is more of a mellow vibe because I like to
listen to Sanchez and Beres Hammond and also Culture music
some like to call it the Rasta music. I like to make hardcore hip-
hop and dance hall music for my fans.

ATB: Do you approach your other businesses like you approach
your music career with the same passion?

Sig Anthony: Yeah I believe in putting 200% into every thing I’m
doing. Music is my first love though I put more time energy into
that because that’s what created the opportunities for me to be
able to have my other businesses. That’s what drives me to do
everything else.

ATB: Can you tell the readers What S.I.G stands for?

Sig Anthony: Soul Inside Garry, I changed the name a while back
from JR Killer to SIG because it gives me more of a positive
image, Anthony stands for the protector, one who bares the spear
and protects. That name was given to me by my father.

ATB: tell us about the tour you were on with Baby Sham back in
2001.

Sig Anthony: The Tour was Cool it wasn’t anything that was
supposed to be official I was affiliated with a sound in Florida
called Black Roze. I was scheduled to perform in Atlanta one
weekend and Baby Cham was in town too… when we found out
were both booked in the same cities for the same dates his
people and my people decided to just merge and the rest was
history. Well trying to make history. ATB….
