Bio

Since 2012, Silo Road has made its mark as a band with the kind of sound found only in Texas. Described alternatively as “Ameripolitan”, “Americana” or “Roots”, their honest, original storytelling gets attention wherever they go.

Friends since their youth in Bonham, Texas, band founders Billy Broome and Chris Swindle both eventually migrated to Austin around the same time. Over the years, they worked together in several bands, but all musical projects came to a halt when their respective families begin to expand. Then, in late 2012, Billy began picking around again with a mutual friend. They called Chris up and asked if he’d like to join them in forming an acoustic string band, covering some songs from their favorite artists, as well as any originals that happened to come along. Chris agreed, and the initial lineup of Silo Road was formed. They began to play local open mics and soon were booking gigs regularly.  A Craigslist ad for a new rhythm section was posted by Billy that yielded responses from both drummer, Jarid Craig and bassist, Brendan Smith. In that first audition, all of the players noted a strong and instant dynamic, and Jarid and Brendan immediately signed on with the band.

Then, in early 2014, the band booked studio time at Grammy Award winner Dave Willingham’s Echo Lab studio just outside of Denton, TX, to record their first EP. Leading the charge was producer Robert Jason Vandygriff, frontman of seminal Dallas cow-punk band The Von Ehrics. By March, the five-song EP was ready. The band realized they wanted to explore an electrified live sound that matched the dynamics of the album. Feeling that they would have a more concise sound with only a single electric guitar to complement Billy’s acoustic rhythms, the band pared down to a four-piece. Silo Road began aggressively marketing their product, booking shows throughout the state and contacting Texas country and Red Dirt radio outlets in earnest. They began receiving airplay across Texas, as well as in Eurpope. Silo Road signed on with Cabin Creek Promotions, and are scaling promotional initiatives on their EP, with an eye toward the horizon for their next studio release in 2015. They are available for bookings.
