Bio

In 1973, New England natives and singer/songwriter/performers Carl Shillo and Buzz Goodwin formed the band Silverado in Hollywood, California. In the next ten years, Silverado would record and release three diverse albums. The country and pop sound of "Silverado” and “Takin it all in Stride” on RCA Records (recorded at A&M Studios and The Record Plant in Hollywood, California), and the rock influenced “Ready for Love” on CBS Records. All three LPs were released nationally and internationally.
Many high profile musicians added their talents to the Silverado records, including; David Dickey and Willie Lecox from the band America, famed session drummer
Jim Gordon, James Burton (guitar), and Ron Tutt (drums) from the Elvis Presley Band, Sneaky Pete Klinow and J.D. Mannis on pedal steel, Victor Feldman (Steely Dan), and Emory Gordie (bass with Emmy-Lou Harris). Silverado’s third album, “Ready for Love”, included Connecticut musicians Jeff Keithline (bass) and Mike Hayden(drums).
Single releases from all Silverado albums received Hit Pick recommendations from major trade publications including Billboard, Cash Box and Record World. “Hide Your Love”, the first single from the RCA 2nd album, rose into the top ten in the New England market including WDRC and WTIC in Hartford, Connecticut. It was played in heavy rotation on WBCN Boston, WPLR New Haven, and hundreds more stations around the country. The single release “Ready to Love” (from the third album) was charted #92 in the country in Billboard Magazines Hot Hundred, where it remained for several weeks. Carl Shillo and Buzz Goodwin were pictured on the cover of that issue.
The group has toured major venues of the east and west coasts, and the southeastern region of the U.S., sharing the stage with Roger McGuinn & The Byrds, Dave Mason, Pure Prairie League, and Richie Havens to name but a few. Their final tour, in 1981, with John Kay and Steppenwolf, was in support of their 3rd album “Ready for Love”.
In 2008, three of the original band members, Carl Shillo (guitar, lead vocals), Jeff Keithline (bass, vocals), Mike Hayden (drums, vocals), are joined by Carl’s son Alex Shillo (lead guitar, vocals), and Ed Bradley (guitar, mandolin, vocals) to bring Silverado to the live stage again, performing selections from their three albums, and favorite songs from artists who have inspired them.
