"STEWART MAC/Silverbox/Jimmy Stapley The Clapham Grand, London 23 September 2011"

Following on from Jim Stapley and his band were a group that have recently started making waves. Clearly influenced by the likes of Nickleback, Creed, Guns n' Roses and Led Zep, Silverbox are a band to watch out for. Mixing complex melodies with raw, emotional, back rhythms, the twin guitars of Ryan Hunt and Julian Martin-Samos complement the energetic vocals of frontman John Wyse, while Steve Hepburn (Bass) and Keith Button (Drums) power the rhythm section.

Going from dark and dirty blues riffs to almost evangelical, heart rending ballads, this is a band that obviously doesn't wish to be pigeon-holed into any one category of music. That they manage to pull off such a dexterous feat is down to raw talent, which they have in abundance.

That much of the crowd at the Grand were loyal fans of the band no doubt helped the chemistry on stage, but I defy an audience who had never heard them before not to come away without feeling they had just witnessed something special... that's certainly the way I felt.

Set List: Oblivion, Under The Radar, Shinedown, Gravity, Cross We Bare, Femme Fatal and Tortuga. - Get Ready to ROCK!

Bio

Silverbox are an up and coming rock band that are proving themselves as they go along. With a growing fan base and a growing number of songs, they are living up to their potential.

There are several bands who have tried to diversify a genre of music that is commonly distorted guitars, a blazing bass, a thunderous drum sound and vocals beyond the point of breathing.

Originating in South West London ‘Silverbox’ were formed in 2010 and the band is comprised of five members; John Wyse (Vocals), Ryan Hunt (Lead/Rhythm Guitar), Julian Martin-Samos (Lead/Rhythm Guitar), Steve Hepburn (Bass) and Kerry Thompson (Drums).

The Silverbox sound palette is as broad as it is long taking influence from the likes of Alterbridge, Audioslave, Biffy Clyro, Black Stone Cherry, Bon Jovi, Clutch, Creed, Kings of Leon, Michael Jackson, Velvet Revolver to name but a few. United by an appreciation for all things rock n roll and authenticity in music, this symphonic cataclysm comes jam packed with all the zest of a champagne supernova. Whether underground, mainstream, hardcore or experimental, nothing is ignored.

Their spirit is raw yet the sound is balanced, here we see authenticity at its primal level, both rich, haunting and beautifully perplex. This sonic tapestry is one bound tightly in spirit, not genre, resembling that of a blistering torrent in anthemic revelry, reflecting the light and depth at the core of the Silverbox soul.

Silverbox, flirt with their delivery whilst pledging an undying allegiance to their conviction. They are both dark, dirty, and at the same time beautifully cleansing.
