SIMENSIS: now that’s what I’m talking about a band that took the stage and annihilated the crowd pushing them back a few steps. With the heartbeat of metal yet screams of CRADLE OF FILTH this band has caught the wave. These boys need to be signed!!! - Rockeyez.com

Bio

What makes a Metal band? A REAL metal band? It depends on who you ask. Many of the bands you see and hear today are focused only on how tight their pants are and how many breakdowns they can squeeze into a song. Somewhere along the way, music became secondary, even in metal. Hard to believe, isn’t it? In a genre where hope is fading as fast as most of its bands, fans of REAL metal can hold their heads high again. One band hasn’t forgotten that the most important thing about metal…is metal...SIMENSIS. In 2003, guitarist Ed Huson and drummer Matt Falkenstein formed the band. The band recorded a demo tape and word spread quickly. This demo, for better or worse, was raw, unpolished, and completely to the point. But it had something so many up and coming bands overlooked. It boasted a sincerity that is often missing in music. This was a metal band that knew what it was, and where it was going. Guitarist Anthony Smeragliuolo came across this demo and was attracted to the band’s presence and performance. He joined the band after one tryout. Bassist Hugo Pinedo followed a few months later. For over two years, the band honed its craft without a vocalist. Simensis understood that it would take time, effort, and experience to find its own musical voice, before they could effectively incorporate a literal voice. In August 2008, bassist Hugo Pinedo moved to lead vocals, and AIR graduate and friend of the band Maksim Timashev stepped in on bass. In March 2009, the band will release a sampler of the full length album due later in the year. Expect ripping guitar work combined with progressive yet powerful drumming and a distinctive vocal performance. Still, Simensis is much more than just people playing music. The bass lines weave in and out of the intricacies of the songs. The guitars blend harmony and melody with ferocity and brutality. The lyrics tell stories of humanity and the struggle it entails. This is metal written by five fans who decided that it was their time to express themselves in music’s purest form. Simply put, you must listen to and see this band live to truly feel what they stand for.
