Bio

Born in Saginaw, Michigan Simmie Green grew up in a household that was always filled with music every day. Growing up to the sounds of "The Supremes" to "Coltrane" made a huge impact on Simmie’s love and adoration for music. It was in the ‘90s when Simmie took to Hip Hop instantly, having that same passion and love artists like the Notorious B.I.G and 2pac, who happen to be his favorite artists of the era, it was not until his freshman year of high school that Simmie started to play around with rapping; participating in little hallway rap cyphers and battles. However, for Simmie "it was just something to do during passing time". As he took part in more cyphers and battles, he began to realize people were beginning to take his skills seriously, but it was only when his close friends began giving him honest feedback that he found the confidence to take his career seriously. Shortly after Simmie Green began to write, perfecting his raw talent for rapping and his craft with words. Simmie’s hard work and dedication paid off in a huge way when he caught the attention of the CEO of a locally owned record label called Ghetto Records.

There he recorded and released his first single "Who I Be”. The single did very well locally, however life at Ghetto Records was short lived and he parted ways with the label. Simmie took his experience from the label and used it to go fourth in his music career. He then dropped a second single called," On The Grind”, which received a lot of recognition. When asked how or what is the drive behind his songs, Simmie Green simply describes the life and survival of everyday life struggles is what motivates him.

Currently, Simmie Green is working on his first mixtape, which is scheduled to be released early November 2013. He has relocated from Michigan to Pittsburgh where he continues to write and record; believing it to be a better environment to keep him from heading back down a familiar path of incarceration he knows all too well. Simmie Green is focused, dedicated and ready for you to experience life through his eyes, through his music & through his life.
